Then they could just join a party in progress for that dungeon and it should put them in the group unless multiple groups for that dungeon are missing a member in which, first come first serve. If it's a completely pre-made group then I'd agree they should allow you to add members as you see fit to the run (out of combat), but in no way attached to a cash shop item.

Lowering the recast time would be great. Let it happen on their anniversary, shorten the timer every year to 5 minutes lower. It should stop at 10 minutes and not go any lower.

Its the FFXIV equivalent of Elf Haters in WoW. It serves no function other to foster a vaguely hostile atmosphere among the community. Its the mark of an immature mind looking for gratification and aiming at the lowest common denominator. It should not be praised, it should be ignored.

Quite fine. Just getting tired of seeing what was once a very pleasant community slowly going downhill. Can't stop it forever, but sitting there and doing nothing doesn't slow the process.

I started playing the game just a little before you did if your join date is accurate, there is no difference between the community now and before. If you're judging the community by the forums alone, you're in for a very rough time. And honestly, if somebody making a harmless joke about the race you play is enough to get under your skin, you need some serious perspective. Lighten up. Play whatever race makes you happy - some are always going to come with stigmas. The exact same thing can be said about classes/jobs like dragoons.

Edit: Just for clarification, I think the FFXIV community is amazing. It's the best of any MMORPG I have played and I have tried out most of the bigger games over the last 10 or so years. People that are constantly whining about the community going downhill are often part of the problem

My join date is accurate. The community feels different these days. Or it feels so to me. Before Stormblood and its jobs were announced the divide between Healers, Tanks, and DPS never felt so problematic. Feels like lately I've run into more self-entitled jerks in DF than before as well. The forums feel like they've gone downhill a bit too. I know forums are rarely pleasant places for MMOs, but this one felt a lot more helpful a while ago than it does today.

A harmless joke doesn't get under my skin, and as for race, I recently switched from Midlander to Miqo'te so... doesn't matter to me too much. What matters to me is the sentiment behind it. Its a pretty ugly thing, and if its allowed to get out of control, it generally does. Ever heard the tale about the Blizzcon where some fan stated they liked the Alliance and found his car had been scratched by a key to read, 'Alliance Fag, Horde Rulez,' or some phrase to such an effect? Granted WoW is an unfair comparison given they actively aimed to pit the playerbase against itself and fed the flames of that inferno all the time.

FFXIV does have an amazing community and I'd like to see it remain as such. As time goes by it gets more popular. New players come, they come from games like WoW, and they bring their attitudes with them, and it begins to detract from the community.

But I'm getting a bit off topic I think... My point was, I don't feel like its worth letting something slide by as a, 'Joke,' when there really isn't anything humorous about the post to begin with.

The ring isn't a cash shop item, or have you forgotten that the base ceremony is free and the ring is made by the player during the quests that lead to the ceremony.

How does it differ from creating a partial pre-made group running in DF? I see no difference and no unfairness. If anything it might actually get people moving through the Q's faster since it might being more people to DF overall.

My join date is accurate also (well, would have been July 2013, but I believe that was the beta forum, and I didn't create my real account until the game itself arrived). To be honest, the tension between the roles has existed for some time. The worst might have been with the 1st tier of Alex Savage and the far too highly tuned DPS checks that made healer DPS and Strength tanks a thing. Before that though, there was plenty of tension in the community with the original Coil tiers, and then savage and EX primals, and let's not forget the Lord of the Crag himself Hard Mode Titan version 2.0 who was a total and complete bear to get by, producing much drama.

The MOAR DPS meta has been around since Coil, and the tensions are more or less the same as they always have been. Every now and again someone will post that the game is in decline and dying because of this, and yet we continue to lurch from patch to patch with a pretty steady player count. There are many posters here who have been here even longer than I, dating back to 1.X, who might offer more perspective. But in general, I don't think the community is any worse now than 1 year ago, 2 years, 3 or 4. It is what it is, a self selecting group with a critical interest in FFXIV. As you might expect that predisposition results in a decent amount of argumentative posts, not untypical of an online forum. Actually If I compare this against Reddit, this is a center of civilized thought and discourse.

My attempts to summon a sammich maker have yet to succeed so far.

To be serious though, I suppose the ring could increase in usefulness depending on a bonding lvl that only increases as you party with your significant other? Teleport is obviously first ability, others could come after? Gives new bonders something to do and maybe a more rewarding experience? I dunno. Changing the teleport timer is kinda moot when you can get to your partner within a few minutes tops anywhere in game except for duties anyway. Being able to summon a partner to a duty would be neat though.

Please stop making that ring something that is not. Its only purpose is go to your partner. stop. Don't even try to put bonding in your minmax game.
