To my fellow White Mages out there, there are more spells than Medica II. Please learn to use them.

Sunken Temple normal, I'm going as WHM to keep my niece company.

Our tank is a 39 DRK. Wearing the Friendship Circlet. Goatskin Belt. Steel Scale Greaves. Aetherial Lapis Lazuli ring. Voice of the Just (the earrings you get when you start off in Ul'dah).

No necklace. No bracelet. No other ring.

She was literally half naked. I couldn't dps, she'd fall to 1/3 health in 2 hits.

    I cried.

I usually tank, and when I don't tank, I usually heal. Only once in a blue moon do I dps in dungeons and when I do, I try my best not to do anything that would make the tank or healer's lives miserable, because I know from personal experience what that is like. I recently started a little baby archer alt and was working my way through the early stages of the MSQ and had to go into Tam-Tara.

The MRD tank we had in there... was something else. She had several lvl 60 classes, so she obviously knew better, but after every single pull, she would hop around in a circle where the mobs died for a few seconds, turn and RP walk (she was running normally the rest of the time) toward the next group, stop and stare at the them for a few seconds, then pull and continue as normal. She did it Every. Single. Pull. The dungeon took at least twice as long as it should have. Never in my life has my 'I will not pull before the tank' creed been so sorely tested.

Normally I always complain about other players but this time I take the chance and tell you guys my story of being an idiot.

I've run plenty of times dun scaith, there's not one mechanic that I don't know about but last night, I felt like I've never ran that dungeon anytime prior.

I decided to make some changes to my rotation, first of all I pressed the buttons on my mouse that I was using before the changes.

I literally used Swiftcast -> ruin II -> resurrect -> Blizzard II -> ruin III till I then finally noticed that I have no dots up and changed my buttons (took only like 5 minutes, duh).

Next up, I think I hit every aoe that's avoidable by anybody but me, because I was searching for my skills on my new arranged hotbar.

Anyways, I would like to thank both healers as well as the alliance healers that kept my stupid ass alive that night and the tanks that needed to pick up my slack since I clearly didn't do much dps.

Lesson learned, do not decide between gym and dinner that it would be a great idea to make changes to your hotbars and running in the next best duty available, before even getting comfortable with the new setup.

Level 60 tanks in the furthest possible dungeon in the game that don't know how to tank.

    Sad!

Maybe because they don't get a chance to learn. Every time I que for sth as a tank (I am at lvl 53 or 54 now) I get flamed. It's either people pulling, healers not healing, they find I have too shitty gear, they flame because I lose aggro on one mob out of 5 (because there is only one DD attacking that one specific mob, while another mob everyone else is at has half hp)... And it is always my fault. Too big pulls, too small pulls.. I played as both healer and DD before going in as tank in this game, so I can definitely put myself in their shoes, and still such behaviour really makes me want to quit altogether. Not sure if I have had really bad luck so far or what, I know my rotation, but every time we die, no matter who screwed up, it is apparently my fault. People end up hugging the floor due to their mistakes or not dodging and they use that downtime to blame it on me.. So yeah.. Yesterday I gave up on tanking. Thanks duty roulettes and all the mentors <3

Just healed two vault runs that were like night and day. On the first one, we had a DRK who had just come back to the game, apologized for his tanking ability... but he was actually doing pretty well! Small pulls, but he never lost hate, did alright damage, all in all a good tank.

Then my second run. We get a PLD who doesn't say much, but just cannot hold hate for the life of them. I check them and see they're wearing augmented ironworks gear (ilvl 130) in all slots, save for an unaugmented ring, which was probably part of the problem. Still it was 130 compared to 145 (what me and the DPS were at), surely with shield oath and proper play they could keep hate. Wish I could have noticed what they were doing wrong, but I had enough on my plate without watching their buffs and actions like a hawk.

Im sorry to hear that but I think its bad luck, personally.
I'm a main healer (also at endgames like savage) and generally seem to be rather appreciated and liked for doing what I do.
But even I have derp moments or just a bad day which may end up in a unnecessary tank death. And oh boy, I do remember one vault run where I perfectly kept
everyone alive WHILE dpsing very decently...then I died during the end boss because hurr durr herp derp derp moment happened in my brain.
During that time I also had a mentor crown above my head and was told to "plz remove ur crown" amongst other stuff.
Like, really? You werent the best tank to begin with during the whole dungeon and then yell at me for doing ONE mistake?

My friend who plays with me every day even says how I am a "magnet for people like that". And how he accidently lets ppl die because he was watching a football game on his second screen and went into tunnel-vision mode
while dpsing in cleric stance and even admits to it and people just laugh it off and move on. Meanwhile I get flamed for being human and doing one friggin mistake.

On the other hand, I'm not a tank player yet I get tons of commendations when I tank...and I always pull fairly big, even if theres a sprout healer with me. I'm just very generous with my cooldowns and will make use of them all (not at once ofc lol), if theres
a tough big pull in particular. And so far, most sprouts could keep up with me...and I just dont think that all of these sprouts were veterans on their alts >.< I really just try to be easy on my healers because I know some pulls are really tough
(HW lvling dungeons in particular). Idk, if I've just been decent enough to not get yelled at or actually was lucky there for once.

Personally, I do complain about tanks too, when Im a healer and cant dps at all because theyre not using a single cooldown (thats really not nitpicking on my part, thats a major issue, especially if the tank feels like he needs to pull the whole dungeon while not using CDs)
But I actually give advise and a simple basic rotation to work with ("hey pld, try to combine some of these CDs like this" , "hey WAR, your strength is HP absorption. You can basically use Bloodbath/Berserk/Overpower spam on every big pull and boost it additionally by keeping up Maim" , "Hey drk, keep up your darkside because otherwise you cant use all skills and also blind mobs by adding dark arts to your dark passenger attack")

I'm really far from being a pro tank. But whenever a tank ACTUALLY DOES listen to my advice, they do improve quite a bit during the dungeon.
Most of the times though,it ends with a "Its muh sub,i play how i want" ---> votekick commenced.

So the question is why you get yelled at in the first place. As for losing aggro...it caaan happen, but in that case, since bad gear can really make it tough to keep aggro,I suggest you really try not to outlvl your gear too much and better be on the safe side and spam 1-2 Flashes(+ keeping circle of scorn on CD)/Overpower/Unleash MORE than you already do. Aggro builds up and you need to develop a feeling for when its enough. Also, theres an enmity bar on left to the party window and theres another additional window which shows all the mobs and their current aggro status
towards you. Keep an eye on those and throw in another Flash/Overpower/Unleash when in doubt. You should not care about excelling with anything else before youre safe with this one.
Now I apologize if I spammed you with obvious advice you're already aware of, I just figured, since at least some stuff is avoidable, id give a hint or two.
But yeah, sometimes it REALLY is just very bad luck.
