See the problem here is that the majority of status effects in a raid setting can't be cleansed. The ones that actually CAN be cleansed are very few and far between. Typically a new healer will try and cleanse everything, only to learn that it doesn't work most of the time. Eventually they learn to not bother and save the MP (Especially if they're DPSing.)

That's why we need to stay on top of fight mechanics so we know what CAN be cleansed.

Doom always has some way of either avoiding it or being removed but it can be different from fight to fight or tier to tier. In WP Hard, the object has to be healed to full. In World of Darkness, object has to step on the lighted platform. But in Weeping City and Dun Scaith, it has to be cleansed. Healers have to know that or deal with the consequences of party members dropping dead.


In Weeping City Calofisteri inflicts flesh wound which has to be cleansed immediately or the next incoming damage is fatal. I learned this when healing that fight. So when I saw it in Dun Scaith, I tried to cleanse it and it worked.

I've gotten sadly used to cross healing in Dun Scaith because I've noticed that healers underestimate how hard Diabolos Hollow can hit as well as what a crit after Flesh Wound can do. Still, I went in with good faith as a tank and felt let down. It wasn't lack of cooldowns and I knew the fight well. I didn't get any vuln stacks at Scathach. The only thing more I could have done at Diabolos Hollow was holmganged but, as I said, I was in the middle of trying to let the healer know they could esuna that status effect without yelling HEY ESUNA NOW. Guess I'd better be more direct next time!

Probably one of the most confusing (heh) debuff for healers to cleanse is the A11 propeller wind debuff. It's an avoidable mechanic and up to that point similar icons were never dispellable. And the fact that it can easily save someones life to cleanse it makes it all the worse to miss it.

As a SMN, that post literally my everday dps life.

It's not a hard job...if you play it from the start. I play other jobs once in a while but been SMN for almost a year.

The first thing you noticed when you go from smn to a combo job like drg or mnk is the transition of dps. If I start a combo on one mob and it dies, I can move to another mob and finish it, gaining buffs or inflicting debuffs for doing it. Its the combo reward.

SMN is not a combo reward job. You bane dots and painflare...then you got to fill the gap with something else, keeping an eye on that aetheflow stack. Use too much too quickly and you're gonna look real stupid when you can't bane that 2nd set of mobs. Use em too late and you're stuck with an out of sync stack. Yes, the tradeoff is flexibility but combo jobs can start from scratch at any time. SMN can't.

I'm having this weird transition because I now have MCH at 60 as an alternative to my SMN DPS and its such a bizarre thing for me compared to what I'm used to. Machinist dps is lovely though <3

Had a super fun night last night just rolling random Trials with a friend in Trial Roulette. We only got to do it four times because they had to go to work the next day, and therefore needed to sleep, but we got bonuses in all four. It was super fun, and the groups were very laid back and friendly.

The last one we did was Titan HM. There was a new player bonus, and I think that at least 2 or 3 people were new, and they were probably the ones with the flower icon next to their name, just based on how they handed mechanics. Only one spoke up about being new though.

Anyways, we wiped once because people getting punched off. My friend, who was healing the trials with me (him on SCH and me on AST) wasn't paying attention and also got punched off. So we're laughing with each other on discord while I continue to heal the two tanks, myself, and the DPS left up on the platform. Well, I ended up dying, so we had to wipe after that. The group had a good laugh, and we pulled again.

Well, people were still getting punched off, but weren't particularly upset about it. My friend and I were keeping the MT alive and DPSing when we could. OT got punched off, but we were like "Okay, we can still manage." And then, this happened.

I guess they were one of the new people, but really? "Can't or won't?" "I'm sensing a won't." Yeah, okay. If I could have raised you, I probably wouldn't have after that comment. /spiteful

So right after the weekly limit on A12 gears for the Shire weapons was dropped, I joined a farm party in PF for it.

I might as well have just gone through DF for the gears because that PF party disbanded after 1 successful run, which took somewhere between 20-30 minutes to complete.

Featuring such gems as:

- WHM who kept getting hit by Sacrament.
- OT who didn't want to bother picking up adds, letting them run amok and kill one WHM, then me.
- A NIN/MNK (can't remember) who was apparently new to the fight and joined a farm party to learn it.

After that, I just farmed another 3 gears through DF with no problems. What's the point of PF, even?

Edit: And no, it specifically said it was a farm party in the PF comment, and there was no bonus.

Duty finder is so fun ~

Leveling roulette: Haukke Manor. Everything was running smoothly till *ROUGE* (lvl 28) decides to tank an add while my boyfriend tanks all the other adds. When the rouge dies, he tells me: "heal more". Like what do you want me to do? I have a cast time. Thank god I gave the BRD all my cards beforehand and she got to LB instead of that guy.

Trial roulette: Bismarck Hard. 4 BRDS & 1 WHM. You would think that with 4 BRDS, it'd be okay but nope. First wipe, cohealer decides to heal in CS till I was like "Yo bro you're healing in CS". We wipe on the Sanawus bc one of our BRDS decide that its okay to jump off the ledge. Second time around, he never jumps on Bismarck's back to deal DPS even though the whole party was like get on. EVERYONE OF THE DPS/WHM (except one BRD/tanks) KEPT GETTING HIT BY THE TORNADOS. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE OF THEM. BRDS were flying around jesus christ.

I can have 3+ brds in my group and you would assume I get 100% up time on foe's since smn and foe going great together, right? Nope not a single one, it doesn't surprise me that none would play ballad for you either. Always that lame excuse "but my deeps", I yet have to find one brd that's not highly out dps'd by the tank or even the healer. So that excuse is kinda invalid but whatever let's just go with the new mentality "I pay $15 and play how I want". Less stressful if you don't assume or expect any effort when entering a duty lol

Is there a reason why people leave library nm right away? It seems nearly every time I go there someone always leaves immediately. Just now I got in-progress as dps and the party said they went through several dps before I arrived. It doesn't seem to take that much longer than any of the other leveling dungeons and I don't usually have any problems with it, so I don't get it.

Lots of people hate the final boss, and the dungeon overall is fairly boring as a leveling dungeon. Although why people would rather take the penalty rather than finish it in less time than that is always puzzling.
