And lord help you if you're a Bard, who has to juggle seven buffs (Barrage, Hawk's Eye, Blood for Blood, Internal Release, Ranging Strikes, Straight Shot, Quelling Strikes). Eight if you count Bloodletter/Rain of Death resets, because not using it ASAP before the DoT ticks RNG resets it is usually a DPS loss. Nine if you count Flaming Arrow. And I'm not counting any of the songs, Warden's Paean, and Battle Voice on top of that. Though we have shorter cast times than a Black Mage, our half-GCD cast times are the entire reason why we can juggle all of that in the first place.

There's a reason I switched from being a WHM main to BRD main, and it's mainly because I can't trust most other Bards I run into to properly juggle their support and offense at the same time, if they even try to support at all.

This, oh-so-much. I have all 3 healer jobs at 60, along with 2 tanks and 5 DPS jobs. Being a decent tank/healer/DPS is easy. Being a really good tank/healer is easy. Being a really good DPS is hard as hell.

How many buffs do I have to juggle while DPSing as a healer? One.

How many buffs do I have to juggle while DPSing as BLM? Anywhere between 2 to 4, depending on where I am in my rotation.

Hard to play but has least responsibilty out of the three. One thing I have learned from playing MMO's is that the responibility level of a role scares people more then its difficutly of play.

Healing and healer DPS in 90% of the content in this game is laughably easy, and comparing stance-dancing, using OGCDs and pre-empting heals (standard playing for any halfway competent healer) to the restraints and difficulties of DPS timers vis-a-vis constantly pushing out optimum damage output against mechanics is a bit embarrassing tbh.

Skill is key, no matter the role. So even if you perceive healing as easy (I do,too), many others dont.
I'm not using my subjective opinion here though, I'm trying to have a neutral look at it.

In the end, every role is more or less pushing buttons while keeping an eye on different things.
Skill and willingness to improve is key, if you have that, you could master any class or role after getting used to it and practising it for a certain amount of time.

Many great DPS players I know would never play a healer seriously for various reasons. They dont enjoy it, theyre not comfortable or they simply are convinced they would suck at it.
And while you and me, our mains being heals, perceive healing to be easy....I can tell you its the same for many DPS perceiving dps to be fairly easy, because theyre so used to it, its second nature to them.

While heals might have the much more simple "rotations", that doesnt necessarily make the job easier considering you have to keep your eyes on a lot of other things.


Lastly, I would also to point out that healing in a PF is a pain in the a.......... because a) always playing with different players and having to expect that at least 1 or 2 people will be derps, meaning you cant play the optimum way
like you should/want and always have to be prepared to save the party from a potential wipe and b) having a different co-heal with different playstyle and expectations (news flash: 6-7 out of 10 suck).

There really does seem to be a misconception that healing is super easy though. It would explain all the awful scholars Ive gotten in my a12s farm parties lately.
You know, people where you can tell at first glance that its not their main class (no relic, questionable gear and.......no melds?!?!).
They apparently then think turning on cleric stance and throwing in a succor once every while is what it takes to play scholar and get more kills in easy mode, which is downright insulting to any good scholar player.

Queued to tank Dun Scaith last night because I'm completely done with relics and I've been so irritated with the lack of tanks stepping up lately to MT.

It was smooth for the most part, but healers let me die at the end of the Scathach fight, and at Diabolos Hollow when he was critting me and inflicting Flesh Wound, I was literally in the middle of typing "you can esuna flesh wound" when he crit me to death after Awareness wore off.

Now I don't want to go back in without a healer I can trust.

At least you use Awareness.

When i heal Dun Scaith it's absolutely nasty trying to keep up with the crits sometimes because so many tanks try to do it without any cooldowns at all. When i tank him I always hit Awareness and Raw Intuition at pull then Vengeance when Awareness goes down. Usually smooth sailing.

But you're absolutely right that healers need to try cleansing more things. There have been so many little things I've suffered through as a tank that I learned later leveling healers could be cleansed.

See the problem here is that the majority of status effects in a raid setting can't be cleansed. The ones that actually CAN be cleansed are very few and far between. Typically a new healer will try and cleanse everything, only to learn that it doesn't work most of the time. Eventually they learn to not bother and save the MP (Especially if they're DPSing.)
