Jumping will have more meaning when they get the area redesigns done, as they likely are building the areas with the possibility of jump in mind.

Why quote it all? Well that's not too hard to answer or understand. It adds context to the meaning of the post. You see, if I had only posted what you quoted, yea man that's pretty beast. Unfortunately that isn't how the world spins. It was all a singular thought process, therefore all of it should be noted. Why would I quote your entire post when I am responding to a particular peice of information? I read the whole thing and I understand what you are saying. Quoting the whole thing doesn't change what I said.
Telling people to "Go play another game" is shutting down their opinions it's akin to me telling people to STFU and go play WoW if they want to bunny hop over earthquake attacks. My point stands that when you say "Not to be rude" and then go on to be rude, thats a asanine response.
What makes you think that jumping is "Good for the game as a whole" sure the developers may think it's a neat and fun idea, but many people don't. Yoshida himself even said there was alot of lashback at the idea of adding jump to the game. I'm not telling the developers to act on my every whim, I am however voicing my opinion on the subject so they are aware of what I and others think on the subject.
Just letting the developement team to "Go it alone" and ignore the players by shutting down our discussion with asanine comments is pretty much telling the devs to do whatever they want, they asked for our input and continue to ask for it. Until they stop asking I'll keep telling them what I think, and I expect you to do the same.
I don't think adding jump is "Good for the game as a whole" So I will voice my opinion on it, I could care less what you think I'll argue my point as well as I can and if it's implemented so be it, I at least let them know what I thought of the idea instead of just twiddling my thumbs and didn't bother to let them know I don't agree with the choice.
I don't see what's so "asanine" about stating it isn't about your or my pet peeves. Such as not wanting to see people jump in a party. My comment, if you've the intellect to think abstractly, promotes viewing both sides, and if you cannot perhaps you should play titles designed for the individual.
As for you disagreeing with my "as a whole" comment, okay, I get you don't agree, fair enough. However, Yoshida said himself he wants to have XIV as the number one MMO. That simply isn't going to happen in the world market if you stay stuck to the ground. The MMO world as a whole, and not just the XI/JP market, are used to and expect free movement from a big name MMO. I'm sure you don't need me to list figures, you likely already know them.
And hey, you don't like free movement, coolbeans. I don't care to silence your or anyone else's voice on this forum, but maybe you should thicken your skin, as none of what I posted was an insult.
Man....this is so true. I have played ff11 and WoW for years and i have studied many other mmo's and if you want to please the majority you have to change some things. Putting jump in this jump isn't silly...people when they play a game want to feel like they have somewhat some freedom i mean it is a game it's suppose to be fun. WoW figured it out that is why they have over 11 million people....It can't always be about pleasing the few ff11 cult followers and I'm sure Yoshi understands this...well atleast i hope he does..he did say he planned on it being the best MMO in the world and in order for that to happen i will tell you now...it will have to have some serious fun game mechanics to pull that one off.Why quote it all? We are just going to have to agree to disagree, I respond to parts of a post that pertain to what I am saying, I don't like having a massive post just because I'm quoting someone elses paragraph, the quote function will lead people right to your post to read the whole thing if they are that concerned about the context of the message. I am speaking directly to you though, and you know the context of your message allready.
Considering you don't seem to think telling people to "Go play another game" is a insult I'll leave it there because you obviously don't think that was a rude and snide comment.
Also if you think "Jumping" is somehow going to make FFXIV into the best game ever and get millions of subscribers, I just can't say I share the same viewpoint.
That last sentence there was the words of a very ignorant person. Of course it would be 1 of many changes they would have to do....that goes without even saying..This is exactly what I'm talking about, no common sense. We are just going to have to agree to disagree, I respond to parts of a post that pertain to what I am saying, I don't like having a massive post just because I'm quoting someone elses paragraph, the quote function will lead people right to your post to read the whole thing if they are that concerned about the context of the message. I agree with OP. This game needs jumping and swimming.
Maybe they can add climbing of certain parts of the terrain.
Reading that snippet with Yoshida was a bit eye-opening and somewhat mind boggling. To be perfectly honest, I'm really shocked to find that people actually don't want more immersion in a game? I, for one, am glad that Yoshida is going to go through with the decision to add jumping and possibly even swimming further down the line.
My answer is obvious I don't think XIV will be doomed with/without jump, the feature means nothing to me and many others. It may lead to a few people leaving and a few people joining.
Overall it hurts the asthetic of the game to me but it's not a dealbreaker...I just prefer if it wasn't there because it doesn't add any value to me.
Immersion is subjective.I agree with OP. This game needs jumping and swimming.

The game doesn't "need" swimming or jumping, it could use it but by all means the game will not instantly be 100x better just because you can swim and emote jump.
