Maybe I'm not understanding this correctly... If I'm in a dungeon and I'm a healer and a piece of gear drops with mind + piety on it and it's clearly for CNJ (cuz it says so of course), and it's definitely an upgrade for me, I'll hit need. Anyone who's NOT a CNJ should have their "need" button greyed out and unclickable.

Same scenario, except I'm a lancer, and there's another DoW in the group, and the piece of gear has stats for DPS and it's definitely an upgrade for both of us, and we both hit need, while everyone else has the button grey'd out cuz the gear's class restrictions doesn't let them roll on it. The game does the /random for both of us behind the scenes and gives it to whoever wins.

    Am I missing something?

Your right, it's almost the same thing. Like I said in the other post before yours. It's an ugly name. ALSO I should be able to give it to whom I want if I'm party leader. Your right, I don't know much about WoW, don't care to know really. I'll spit out info that I hear around the internet. I know for a fact for ME(aka opinion), WoW was made by somebody throwing up on a computer. ANYWAYS rant over. I don't just want /random for drops, I want it in the game, where I can do /random. I just want /random, also /slap.

Just give us /random and give party leaders some control over loot distro, worked perfectly fine in XI, don't do runs for items you want with complete strangers.

Not that I'm "Against" any different loot system I just found the simplicity of the /random for your drop worked perfectly. With the added humor of my linkshell deeming 777 wins anything...and I always rolled like 10.

So... you're passing judgement on something with no knowledge about it. Sounds like most things said on these forums.

So if Need/Greed is ugly and upsets FFXIV players then how about Require/Desire?

What happens if, because of party makeup, you're playing a class that you definitely don't see yourself playing very often and that you don't care for as much?

I'll be sure to change my weapon appropriately so I can lot on everything. That will be so much better than random drops.
