Why only 1 job per class?

From what I understand it seems as though the job system will be speciality in one aspect of your class. However, I am unsure as to why there is only 1 job per class. I think giving a character a range of abilities for their class then having say 2 jobs which they then pick to specialise in would give much more variation.

Right now I could seperate most classes in 2 jobs:

    Gladiator; Samurai, Paladin
Marauder; Berserker, Thief (keeping with pirate nature)
Lancer; Dragoon, Blue mage (enermy skill)
    Pugilist; Monk, Ninja
Archer; Ranger, Bard (since they are going to do this)
    Conjurer; White mage, Black mage
    Thaumaturge; Time mage, Red mage

Let me try with the two missing:

    Arcanist; Summoner, Tamer
    Musketeer; Gunslinger, Dancer/Geomancer

Out of all I put I only struggled to think of two for musketeer, so why do we only get one job? Not only that people are saying that abilities will move from classes to make them fit the jobs more. If that it is true, then why bother with classes? Why not just replace them with jobs? If you really want to make a less specialised class, then a specialist job, I really think that you should have multiple jobs per class).

If jobs could get implemented just by thinking up ideas, we'd be up to 50 jobs by now.

They've already announced there will be multiple jobs per class in the future. This is an MMO, these things come over time with expansions and updates.

Source? Last I heard they said this was possible but there was no definitive "Yes, this is what we are doing."

I heard no 'definite' response to this, but I would presume "Expansion of Armoury, focused on classes and jobs, prior to version 2.0." would also encompass further jobs to be added to the job system, as it is expanding on the armoury system, and not just on job quests etc.

fix it for you. Source ? search for it some where at the forum, there should be interview some where. as the OP, you ask to much for the game "at-it's-2nd-release-state-at-decmber". Expect more job will be add at 2.0 or after

99.9% sure Yoshi stated something along the lines of "for now the jobs will be 1:1 but we will plan to expand upon this in the future"

It might take Gladiator Lv30, Marauder Lv15 and probably some Shield skill to unlock Paladin.
