Warning about handing out wedding invites

So many of you are babbling about the truth. The truth? I just attended a wedding (literally 10 minutes ago) of a couple who was handing out their invitations in Gridania. I never saw either of them before, had no clue who the guests were.... But guess what, everyone was nice, and nothing bad happened. No bad emote spams, skill spams... Nothing, it was lovely despite all the new strange faces.



If you have nothing nice or constructive to say it may be more worth to keep your mouth shut. Obligatory congrats to the lovely couple on Cerberus, hope you have a lovely time together!

Congrats on there being some people who took it serious, but really, one or two experiences does not make it 100% or even 90% of the time. Fact remains that if you look anywhere on the internet, the majority of people will be trolls, mocking and making fun of things that should be a serious deal. Take the United Airline ordeal for an example, what should be a very serious thing was reduced to Harambe status meme in a matter of minutes.

In XIV it is no different, the majority of players would rather rip on people and have a laugh for themselves at the expense of others. Sure there are nice people out there, but just throwing out random invites you're not guaranteed to pick out those rarities. You must be delusional or not used to how online works if you don't see how this is truth.

You went to one wedding out of hundreds that have had guests which are strangers to the host. Your one example does not prove anything as you haven't attended every open-door wedding on ff14. I wouldn't go as far as saying the majority of players are assholes but they do exist, and when you have an open-door wedding or just open-door policy to anything in life (don't even go there! lol) anything can come in, good or bad because nothing is perfect.

It's why invitations exist which is weird as those bad apples were technically invited but only because to attend a wedding on ff14 you need an invitation (irl with open-door weddings, you just walk in). Locks work in this way too.

Good for you, you got lucky, it happens. As the OP posted, not everyone gets lucky. I'm sorry but a gamble is not something I'd want to happen on a special day let alone mine.
