It would be infuriating to see houses sitting unused for several months.
Thank you for such nice words! Someone who actually reads too! . Thank you, seriously mean it. I don't think (the majority) on this thread realize its 45 days because I keep seeing this 1 month word thrown around about auto demo.

To the guy who asked about the Military: No, I don't feel SE should dedicate anything to that. I think it would be too much hassle for them to even get started with. They would most likely want to verify active military and everything. Also.. what happens if something happens to you? Whether it be injury or anything else, are they supposed to put a shrine with your name in the front yard and just close the house off forever? This system works for the way the housing system currently is. Again though, I do believe STRONGLY that 45 days is way to lax. 25 days of inactivity for FC leader to pass, 30 days for auto demo for both FC and PH would be more fair. (Edit here: This would also be throwing myself into the group who would have to follow this new rule, so don't say I'm only saying this because I do not have a house, I have a FC house, just wanted to say that before someone used it as a counter argument against me. So no, I am not salty / angry / whatever about someone having a house.)

Don't mean to offend anyone in the miltiary; just think that it would be too much hassle that SE wouldn't take on. I think everyone hear realizes other countries besides the US play this game.. they would want the same type of benefit. Not saying its a bad thing; just way to much headache for SE

Edit: Read the last little bit. Housing on here is.. like a living breathing creature. No, not everyone is meant to have one despite popular belief. It's more of a luxury. Also, no one is a special snowflake on any server, and you do not deserve special treatment (again, despite popular belief). They never guaranteed you that you would be able to purchase a house with the subscription. Also.. please remember, if you are one of those "I'm going to be a douche and log on every 44 days cause I'm in love with pixels", just let your house go. You have bigger issues to worry about if you are in love with the pixels. I can tell you, easily, at least 50 houses on Hyperion would open up if people just let the server take them back and collect their gil. Trust me, you'll get over it.

I agree with this point based on how the current system works but I as said earlier this shouldn't even have been an issue in the first place. This is something that could easily be fixed if SE ever does decide to take a long hard look at the system they've put in place, because it is an unfair system as it currently stands and its no ones fault but SE for doing it this way.

Also throwing around the whole "special snowflake" just seems a bit disingenuous/incessantly petty and painting everyone the same way. Its in the same vein as people on this forum who constantly accuse everyone else of being toxic.

I hate to throw this in because people will just go "Huur duur go play that mmo then." but if other mmo's, like ESO can ensure housing for everyone then SE can more than do it as well. As others have also stated FF XI ensured a home for everyone, yeah it was only a single room but if they could do it way back then, they could certainly do it now.

Though whether they ever will remains to be seen.

I suppose all we can do now is wait for SB and the Shirogane wards and also see if they add on another 4 wards or something, that would alleviate the problem for most servers. Though the likes of Balmung and such are probably never going to have happy ending until its made in such a way that everyone can own property because even apartments have their limits(?) and thats been reached on some servers.

Well I'll agree to disagree with you. I believe the (majority) of people on this thread are acting like they are entitled to a house. There are a few individuals if you read their posts that realize they are not.

You also must of not played 11 much? 11 also had an island that you got from the last expansion that you could do dailies on etc. You owned that, but.. was no decorating.

My big point in the end is, be careful what you ask for. They could make the current system worse. ^_^
