Eventually, one DPS stood in the little paralysis bomb things, and while I'm in the middle of cleansing them, the other gets the bomb debuff, and stands too close to me. (It was the SMN who REALLY liked jumping as opposed to actually DPSing). I get knocked back into another paralysis thing, so I spent the majority of the fight just cleansing debuffs because the DPS were knocking everyone into the paralysis things faster than I can even cleanse. The tank included. Eventually I just focused more on making sure I wasn't paralyzed, and that the tank wasn't dying because...ugh. When the adds would appear, I would focus my attention on them because I was killing them faster than either DPS. By that point there was another round of debuffs and playing ping pong with the party members. Rinse and repeat.

Both of the DPS died due to just standing in stuff and I swift-ressed one, focused on topping off the tank and the one I'd just raised, and then hardcast-ressed the other. Even though the tank and I told them to be mindful of the paralysis bomb things, they still stood in them. I was OOM mostly just from using Exalted Detriment on them. >.>

It was just. I didn't. I couldn't. I'm still shocked over it. I'm honestly surprised it wasn't a wipe due to the fact that I was just OOM from babysitting the DPS. With Luminiferious Aether on cooldown, and the one time I actually want a damn Ewer, I can't seem to draw one. >.> At least the PLD would help out by Clemencying themselves. @.@

I really dislike the runs where I have to babysit the party more than I can help contribute to DPS. :/ I really dislike having to spam Benefic/Cure on people. I'd much rather have the groups where my regen ticks are enough and I can sit there and spam Malefic II/Stone III instead. :3 Guess I should dust off my SCH for my fairy heal bot. XD Though it seems most runs when I go as SCH, even my Roused Eos isn't enough for the tanks. T^T But that's probably because I'm not that good of a SCH. XD

I don't mind if the PLD wants to SS themselves before a boss or a large pull, or even if they toss out a Clemency on themselves (or even me; I've had some cute PLDs Clemency me before when I'm raising people and end up getting hit by something). It's just when they start using SS before EVERY PULL. On EVERY PARTY MEMBER. And interrupting their combo just to SS people. Or using Clemency when they didn't take that much damage.

A little help is okay. But when they start acting like a healer, yeah, I do get a little insulted. Maybe they've just had crappy healers, but I'm very good at stance dancing, and knowing when to drop Cleric and heal. This PLD in particular never came close to dying again save for the one wipe we had on the first boss, and when they just didn't want to use CDs for the Scorpion's tankbuster. And even then, one Essential Dignity and a refresh of Aspected Benefic had them back up to 90% health.

    Thanks a ton, DF.
That reminds me, a few days ago I ended up with the exact same White Mage in EX, 60, AND 50 roulettes. The first two times I queued as Bard, the last time I queued as my sad little Paladin who was still trying to get over major tanking anxiety while leveling.

I've never felt more miserable in FFXIV, not because of the White Mage's performance, but because I was pretty much suffering alongside him - all three runs turned out to be FAR slower than what I'm used to, on account of having really bad co-DPS, and I mean really bad.

I was farming Lore with my brother in Gubal HM and got two very different experiences that were very positive, albeit entirely opposite, the second one being quite hilarious.

The first one, I was running AST and he was on BLM. We got a pug WAR and another BLM. Holy shit everything was literally melting in seconds. We finished the dungeon in less than 10 minutes I'm pretty sure. Granted, I was pulling Balances and Arrows out of every orifice in my body, but still, that BLM was amazing. If only my brother had better gear (he's a returning player and is still stuck with 245 pieces and a 230 wep), I think that run would have lasted around 7 minutes total.

The run that followed immediately after that one was.. literally the opposite, but it was so adorable. We got a PLD lady and a MNK. The MNK's DPS kinda average, but what was super cute was that our PLD was running the dungeon pull by pull, marking targets, using Cover at every opportunity, had pull macros and the like. It was so retro! It was a total pushback to my levelling days, and even though it was far from being the most optimal run her old timey tank style had me giggling through the entire run. Ngl, it was one of the most relaxing runs ever cause she was actually very good at mitigating and self-healing (let's ignore the fact that she was only tanking like 3 mobs per pull lmao). My MP suffered a lot bc more pulls = more MP stress from Gravity, but man, that was a really funny run. She was also super nice and kept using /cheer on us and stuff.

She reminded me that there's more to dungeons than speedrunning when it comes to pleasant and fun experiences~

I mind when they let galvanize expire while they stop to stoneskin themselves.

Have another tank tale I need to share...

Levelling roulette with my friend: I'm SCH, friend is BLM

we end up in Gubal Library normal and get paired up with a PLD tank and another random dps I dont remember

Now, I'm the type of healer who pretty much uses Sprint all the time, so I sometimes end up running in front of the tank (I dont pull though).
The tank kept on following me going for the big standard pulls....then went down super fast and died.

I ask him to use CDs. He replies that he has never done such a speed run. I tell him that if he wants to, we can teach him.
So he keeps going...and at the next pull...he burns down EVERY CD he has. Everything. At once.
After his CDs run out,hes back to being a squishy ofc.

So again I tell him, use CDs but dont use them all at the same time, try to pair up about 2 CDs and when they run out and theres still too many mobs alive...pair up another 1-2 depending on what it is.
Try to go for a constant level of mitigation, basically.

On the next pull, I see him use Hallowed Ground + Sentinel at the same time. We tell him thats a waste of resources as its pointless.
He then tells us he made a macro which would use all of his defensive CDs with hallowed ground being used last. We both tell him to delete that macro asap.
It needed a bit of convincing, but he then seemed to believe us and said "Ok I'm sorry, I got this!"

Well,we did wipe on the next pull again, cos he messed up. Again, hes like "Ok, I messed up but I'll get it right"

We kept reassuring him that we dont mind if it takes longer and that he should not feel pressured. The other random dps left at that point, but who cares.
We still had like half the instance in front of us and I tell you, this PLD improved a lot during the second half of the dungeon.

He had a few trial and errors, we wiped a few times, but at the end of the day, we improved someone's playstyle and he seemed to appreciate it
as he thanked us at the end for all the advice given.

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

On the other hand...we had a lvl 60 roulette yesterday ending up in Gubal HARD, with me as a WHM and my friend being a SMN,where we first had a BLM doing a whooping 300 dps on big pulls.
After asking him to pull his weight, he didnt respond, nothing changed, so here's your free kick out of the instance.
It cant get worse, right? Oh,yes, it can. We get a replacement dragoon with pretty much all IL 200-210 gear (il 200 weapon) except a few accessories that were 230.
This drg rocked a whooping 250 dps on a boss + getting hit by a lot of unnecessary avoidable AoEs.

Really? Yes, really. It was to the point where I had to interrupt my dpsing so I could heal someone who doesnt do any damage, when
me and my SMN friend were carrying the whole dps. This dragoon also only had French language marked and from experience a lot of
them really "dont anglish", so asking anything from them will usually result in no reply or just a reply stating they dont know english.
We were also pretty annoyed at this point and just got rid of him tbh.
We finished all the big pulls just fine as 3 people as we didnt get a replacement dps (it was late at night).
When the final boss was halfway down,we got a dps replacement who pretty much just got a free ride lol
Hope he enjoyed his roulette though. haha.

Also, I just wanna say that I always feel like people might perceive me as a toxic elitist when I tell some of these stories here that involve votekicks.
But I'm really not, I like to give to advice to people who listen and I tolerate people who perform subpar too.
But there is a point when "subpar" gets so low, it becomes detrimental. And if you cant even do as much damage as a lvl 50 should do, I assume youre trolling
or just too busy watching netflix. Like, I had a pretty poorly geared lvl 60 MCH and went to a dummy and did a simple 1-2-3 combo and did already
more than double the damage than these guys did. And I dont even know how to play MCH. So I hope you understand that I'm simply sick of
the "I play(afk) how I want" people and have a zero tolerance policy against them.

For starters, your post is hilariously written haha gave me a good laugh. Second, I swear this game has an internal system that counts how many times you die in an instance. Whoever had the most deaths always gets the loot. Always. I see it in tons of farm parties. Those that spend the most time dead are the ones who walk away with the bird. Every. Single. Time.

Why do SCHs think pre pull galvanize is a good thing? As SMN it drives me nuts. Healer always gets instant hate, and while it only takes a few seconds for tank to re-estabilsh aggro (assuming they don't suck), It takes forever for them to get mobs back in a good position for my AOE abilities to do any good. OTZ It's just so frustrating sometimes. Can someone please explain the reasoning why galvanize can't wait a second or two. Maybe I've just been unlucky with groups I dunno.

I'm refering mostly in cases like Sohm Al (hard) where you want tank to just run recklessly and pull the whole place. But with bloody regen/galvanize they gotta stop every time and grab aggro before continuing. >.< It just doesn't make any logical sense since these are usually healers trying to push tank to pull bigger.

Edit: keep in mind, I'm not talking about bosses lol. Purely the dungeoning part itself when we've got mobs up the ying-yang. XD

If you galvanize a tank before they even make initial aggro on the mobs there won't be any initial healer hate. The initial healer hate occurs when there's a HoT ticking on the tank.

Now if they're galvanizing as the tank is making the pull, that's another issue. But there's no reason not to pre-Galvanize a pull if the tanks are still well outside the aggro range of the mob and the SCH has the time and MP to do it.

Probably because pre-pull galvanize causes absolutely no hate whatsoever. Sure, if they cast it as the tank pulls or slightly after it is subject to hate generation, but shielding before the pull isn't like putting regen on a tank, it doesn't tick so it doesn't generate hate. When I heal I like to put it up before a pull because it gives me a bigger cushion to start dpsing and actually makes it less likely that I will pull mobs off a tank because it gives them more GCDs to throw their opening threat rotations. When I tank, especially with a SCH in the group, I keep an eye on my healer as I run toward the next group and if I see them stop moving and start to cast stoneskin, succor, or some other shield, I stop dead and give them a chance to get it off before moving in to aggro range. A half second of hesitation on my part can end up making the run faster and smoother in the long run.
