this is your own personal bias, you favor one on one combat, also realize level matters, if you go for something close to your level, spam is key, but if you attack stuff sufficently higher, you have to plan your spam a little bit more. Regardless it has a lot to do with party make up. Some teams can get away with spam, others need to be technicians, i like that the game allows different people to play differently. What worries me is not the balance between damage of DD classes, because the ability revamp is coming where they will redistribute and add abilities for all classes. What I am most worried about is the focus of battles and strategies used since it seems like everyone is spamming AoE and causing a mess of non-strategic zerging to get EXP. I find the battles just a cluster F of spam and I don't like it one bit.
I find that boss battles are fine and very enjoyable but when it comes to EXP, its zerg zerg spam AoE gogogo!
Also in general people dont want exp to be highly strategic, thats why they tend to avoid fighting monsters 5 to 6 levels higher, because while they can win, and get more, or similar exp, it requires more strategy and skill, and that takes time to organize. I mean im sure with 2 mages you could probably do the old timed nuke strategies, but most people dont actually want that.
MRD has always been broken, they shouldn't be able to excell in both tanking and damage at the same time, they need stances back IMO.
Hopefully the addition of Warrior will specialise them and have them lose HP and def in exchange for attack, but agreed they do need to balance classes to have similar base damage output. (this includes mage classes *blackmage*)

I just want to be loved ;C
After 1.19 I have been doing more damage on my MRD than before, so I disagree that they are now "broken" after.

I guess you've never demolished a stonghold with a bunch of MRD and a few CON. They are incredibly strong, but so is LNC in this particular instance the OP showed. Are you referring to this thread?

It's just that these LNC seem to erm.... either not be equipped well, or just suck so much that they get hit by every eruption and need to sit out to recover. Ifrit parse should not look like that. Occasionally, the MRD tank will come out on top simply due to not having to run from environmental DMG and can spam WS and do a little DMG from punishing barbs. This is not a great example in why MRD are "too strong" compared to other classes.
One run we had with ifrit the other night. We had like... 5 back to back eruptions on phase 5 that we all ran from and the MRD tank couldn't keep up with healing himself and died. We didn't stop there and CON put up Stygian Spikes II and just tanked Ifrit by standing still and curing himself til we downed him. Very sloppy run, but is CON now overpowered? In that instance the survivability of this mage shouldn't have been that long. They survived 6 rounds of Ifrit abilities.
If anything, all of this shows the attention needed towards Gladiator. Not the other way around.

My point is more referring to the fact that the most efficient way to gain EXP is to gather very little risk monsters together and rip through multiple enemies with little concern or threat of dieing, over high risk situations which should, naturally, provide higher reward.this is your own personal bias, you favor one on one combat, also realize level matters, if you go for something close to your level, spam is key, but if you attack stuff sufficently higher, you have to plan your spam a little bit more. I simply think the higher the risk, and the more effort put it, the reward should be greater than the simple hack and slash AoE spam. I mean honestly whats the point of a tank other than NMs or Bosses at this point?
