No one cares what you do with the cash shop, though? And sure, as soon as you don't let criticism towards SE's implementation of the cash shop bother you.

I'm confused? 2.2 didn't add that much. FC housing, which everyone hates due to implementation, 2nd coil, which few did because of the difficulty, leviathan (only 2 modes) mog (only 1 mode, since hard mode was 2.1, and had already existed), and 2 beast tribes for quests, which had fates that everyone hated.
I think you may be forgetting what was actually added in some of the 2.0 patches lol

FC housing was 2.1. 2.1 also had the Sylph and the Amaljaa.I'm confused? 2.2 didn't add that much. 2.2 brought the Second Coil raid, Kobold and Sahagin beast tribes, Gilgamesh, King Mog extreme, Leviathan hard and Leviathan extreme trials, and a brand new endgame (glamour lol). So, in battle content, it actually surpassed 2.1 due to two new fights (Leviathan and Gilgamesh) while 2.1 was all difficulty mods.
As for SCoB... while lower quality than FCoB, it was a huge step up from the first Coil. I didn't like how T9 was set (it was like 3 different fights in one go), but outside of that you could feel that the game was growing the beard in fight design.

This whole argument, I would call it a "negative fallacy" cause all I see are focus on all the "content" you pay for through Mog Station while ignoring all the content that was added in the game due to player request.
Wedding Ceremonies, Apartments, Egi-Glamour, Tataru's special outfit that she gives you(the only reason this reward exist is because people were begging for it), Gold Saucer, Chocobo Racing, Lords of Verminion, Triple Triad, cross-server party finder, servers in a better location for US and EU regions, there might be more but this is just off the top of my head. A majority of these wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the cash shop + subscription fees. In all honesty, subscription fees alone wouldn't justify moving servers, but with the extra funds they get from the cash shop it allows them to spend money on those type of adjustments to offer players a better gaming experience.
Cash shop are extra funds which prove the game is profitable and by proving the game is profitable it allows them to put more money into the game. Without it, Stormblood could of been the same budget or less than what HW had for it's budget.

You say so. It is not free, I'm paying for it. Today is only cosmetic, but tomorrow could be... leveling potions? And we already have the Retainers. People who pay for retainers have extra advantage. More space, more gathering/hunt retainers, more slots to sell stuff. I was only cosmetic I won't mind at all.And one day you will wake up and realize that SE is a company that has to earn money and has just COSMETIC items in their shop that have no impact on the gameplay. To make it short for you: Not gonna happen.
And if you think everything should be free in the game just because you pay a sub, maybe you want to pay more each month that the company can generate the expected amount of money with that game. But i hardly doubt that you can just imagine what happens if a game doesn't create the expected amount of money.
As if any publisher would be the welfare...

You realize a large portion of that content already exists, yes? Titan had originated been cited to make 1.x but was held back due to the Earthquake disasters in Japan and it feeling tasteless. The current team were able to adjust and work off existing or near completed assets, thus adding more content to the game. Heavenward, meanwhile was entirely new. The devs also wanted to design different content, which comes with its own costs and difficulties. Although it ultimately proved hit or miss, that doesn't change the likely budget costs developing things like Diadem, LoV, Aquopolis, PotD and etc. Now it's absolutely fair to criticism the end result-- twelve knows many of us have. However, it's disingenuous to compare 2.1 to 3.x.The game was fine and got more than ever before the cash shop. The content in Heavensward is pathetic next to 2.1 and 2.2, and the sub didn't have to increase.
Why do you people keep arguing against your own interests? As you said, Square Enix is a business. They're not your friends. You gain nothing from defending them, on the contrary, you lose and drag everybody else with you.

Words to live by.Expecting everybody to play the game the way you do is not a way to foster a pleasant experience for anybody.
I agreed with your last post but gota disagree on this one the math acutally isnt right and this is coming from someone thats horrible at math 6 million people may have bought the game. But currently there is only like 300k to 500k actively sub players making that amount you put totally inflated. I mean I get where your coming from but sometimes it not really a bad thing, sometimes its better to just be able to buy something without dealing with farm parties etc. Sometimes paying cash beats rng we have plenty of things in the game to farm and tons of mounts , let the cash shop make it haha.I have already ranted here about another issue with this game: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...EADY?p=4092110
But since I am on a roll I should keep going:
.
In the end gear is a form of content...they can put say, the new "Ward Gear" as part of a dungeon challenge such as "complete X boss without X situation happening"...and same with all other pieces...in the end there is a programmer working on this so it IS taking staff from the game itself..like I said, no problem if companies want to profit...but use it to sell past SEASONAL gear or past EVENTS such as lightning for that...there will always be new players down the road who missed stuff or returning players...so making a profit off that is acceptable...but not new stuff...new stuff should be part of the main game..whether it is mounts/gear/emotes/hairstyles even dyes...can make difficult achievements with these certain items being the rewards (Dyes excluded ofc...they would be something gatherers/crafters had to make)
well they boasted "Over 6 million players" on their main page..not "Characters" and without an asterisk...so taking them on their own word for that...plus with China being open to the game...as well as say, S.Korea/Middle East/Africa/South America...they get alot of players from everywhere so I do believe in that number..WoW had like 13mil at some pointI agreed with your last post but gota disagree on this one the math acutally isnt right and this is coming from someone thats horrible at math 6 million people may have bought the game.
