So Garlean troops, Fallen enemies, and Bandits can all attack you, but heaven forbid another player? Isn't that a little safe. One is just an artificial way of producing the other.Regardless, I won't like seeing people dying all over the place in maps, or trying to avoid a LNC who wants to spear me with a Doomspike when I'm merely crossing an area. Established arenas for people to shed blood, yes, but no PvP in the middle of the land. It just...doesn't seem to fit into a game like this.
Of course, if I get rewards for killing people....heheheh. [kidding]
Yes, I would. Garlean troops, fallen enemies and bandits attacking will be controlled by AI, whereas other players will use the opportunity to nail you down to the floor without so much as a breathing space. At least the AI can be controlled to be responsive in only a certain area, whereas players will see you anyway on the mini-map, and come running after you with a nuke or weapon skill ready. And when the players are f***tards who want nothing more than to ruin people's pleasure of playing a game, I'll take the AI kills over PvP any day. So yea, I'll say it's safer.
Some people have no understanding of dramatic tension. Those Pker types are what makes games interesting and dangerous. Besides, consentual PvP servers are always a possibility. The only reason i said PvP was necessary was because I could see urban sprawl being an issue and players would need a way to quash that. Siege battles would be needed, but this could be in the form of consentual PvP where nobody is caught off guard.Yes, I would. In your opinion, perhaps. I'm not really a fan of PvP as I don't enjoy conflict, and world PvP is something I truly despise. I put up with it for six months in Aion before leaving for good. One thing I enjoyed about FFXI is that playing a single-faction MMO with an emphasis on PvE and story made you feel like you were coming together against a common threat. I'd like to see that continue with FFXIV.
And I don't see how single-faction world PvP can work where people can communicate and turn it into a smack-talk match. I'd personally not like to see the FF community degrade that way.
Yoshi-P has already said there will never be PKing in this game, so arguing in defense of world PvP seems futile.
Besides, trying to compete with other MMOs that are heavily focused on PvP also seems like a futile effort and a step in the wrong direction.
If regionalized servers and gameplay style designations like RP aren't going to happen, I seriously doubt PvP servers are going to happen, either.

Gift what you have to release the pc's in xiv are on the same side. That's how the world was designed so of course we aren't fighting each other. now if say LL, Uldah, and Gridania were at war with each other looking to conguest the other lands, than PvP would be a necessity. This game in that respect is not designed like wow or rift with faction at each others throat or aion between the two sides.
now arena style PvP where the best warriors test there might on behalf of their companies would be a really neat idea SE can look into to bring PvP into xiv and make it fit the world. You gotta look at PvP from the perspective of the game.
Faction PvP doesn't make sense and I'm not endorsing it. Faction PvP limits freedom by, again, telling people how to play and who to kill.Gift what you have to release the pc's in xiv are on the same side.
