Technically none of these designs belong to any of us. SE made the character creator and all the options, textures, and characteristics. So all designs that come out of the character creator are SE's intellectual property; we just pay our sub fee in order to "use" what they created. Even if anyone purposefully or accidentally copies someone elses FFXIV character design they have no obligation to credit anyone (except SE)...since it doesn't technically or legally belong to anyone but SE.
I am just trying to have an objective look at the issue. While I can understand your feelings about someone apparently copying your character design...there just isn't anything you can do about it nor can you prove they did it on purpose in the first place (unless they openly admit to doing it) so maybe follow my suggestion to put them on Ignore. Hopefully you won't be upset about it as much? :/
I'm not trying to be mean or rude at all... just some friendly advice: you should try not to let yourself get upset over this and if you really cannot help it then the only thing you can do is use Ignore function.
Just trying to help and also give you, an objective as possible, outside looking in view.
If they do it on purpose it is disheartening, but even if you could prove they did it on purpose there still isn't anything you can do :/
I am sorry it is upsetting you though. I took this screenshot of my Miqote with nice flowers for you...thought it might cheer you up.

Spoilering my reply because I don't want to further bother anyone who simply came to look at and post screens. If you happen to be reading this, apologies for adding to the discussion.
To me, your comment is comparing apples to oranges though. Clover never implied she had some legal right to her character design nor did she demand credit for it. I don't think anyone would dispute that SE are the legal owners of all creative content within the game but that is not what the issue was. Iromi's posts have shown she is the type of player that doesn't take much interest in creating characters nor the type who has significant interest in making anything she can be attached to. She fantasia's her designs as many other players do and that is perfectly fine, to each their own. What does not make sense, however, is that she would decide to show off a character she did not design and thank people who compliment her as though that character was something of her own making. It's deliberately misleading and disrespectful to the person who actually spent weeks before the game's launch tweaking and adjusting their character until they were 100% happy with them. Naturally Clover would feel slighted by that, not just because they were behaving as though the character "belonged" to them(and yes, I believe that term can be used in a non-legal dispute - which this is) but because our avatars, at least for the people who don't go around changing them when they get bored, are a representation of the player.
If I saw a clone of my character I would be rather upset. With that said, my character lacks enough distinguishing features to be entirely unique so "accidentally" making a very similar doppelgänger of her is unlikely but certainly within reason. I could not assume the person did it with intent even if I had good reason to believe they did. K'mih's case throws that out the window however, as there are far too many details to "accidentally" get right and there is no questioning that it was done deliberately.
Blocking her makes little difference, that's burying one's head in the sand and pretending the problem is not there when in reality a character is still running around with her noteworthy avatar posing as Clover-the-player as far as the average person is concerned.
While I don't know you Miste and nor do I see your posts very often, I do recognise your character. So if I saw an exact copy of your character in-game or elsewhere, I was likely assume it was you right away. I didn't know and likely won't remember your name by heart either(not my strength unfortunately) so that wouldn't help me realise my mistake even if I ran into such a situation.
Aside from that, Clover also happens to be a RP'er. That alone means that she also invested a lot of time, thought and energy into what some people might quickly brush off as "just another miqo'te" design but it doesn't take someone who shares that hobby to understand why it can be frustrating when that character is recklessly used for oneself just because it's some new phase for a person who didn't even bother trying in the first place. It's not an offline game where no-one can see what is going on and everyone is quietly minding their own business. This is a community where people can and likely will associate that design with one of the two people, and that is an uncomfortable situation for anyone I think, particularly for two contrasting personalities which seems to be the case here.
So what can be done? Not much admittedly. I'm sure even Clover realises that. Either Iromi can respect the feelings of Clover or she can't, that's entirely her call. Even in the case of the former, it doesn't necessarily indicate that action can and must be taken. And even assuming that she were genuinely upset, I still don't think anyone can rightfully begrudge her for not wanting to spend money to fantasia both of her clone characters; that would be unfair, after all, and even under the 'ideal' circumstances were she to revert back the the humble route and genuinely empathise with Clover's situation, I still wouldn't blame her for hesitating or even outright not being able to. While I have strong feelings on the subject myself, I make a point to try my best to not be unfair and I would never push such a thing on anyone, regardless of my distaste for what ultimately happened.
With that said, Iromi, if you're reading this, on the very off-chance you were willing to oblige, I would happily gift both fantasia to you as a very honest thank you and apology for the trouble, though please don't mistake that for a request; it's merely an offer of gratitude should that be what you honestly would rather do.
Finally, I do apologise for this subject in general. I know that no-one wants to see any kind of bitter debate, tension or drama in a thread meant for light-hearted fun but unfortunately the lack of a PM feature makes things awkward. And again, Iromi, if you happen to be reading this and would like to tell your side of the story elsewhere, I would be more than happy to oblige ;;;
