Viera as the next new race~ Show your support

Initially, his main concern was that viera must be exactly as people envision it, otherwise the race won't be worth creating. He claims people would complain if it's not exactly like viera from past games.

He then goes on to change goal posts; he shifts his concern about this race not being as people envision it to saving resources. He suggests giving us a Fran hairstyle instead (and I assume the ears would be included).

So, his solution to the hypothetical situation people would complain about viera not being exactly the same as their past iterations is to just give us Fran's hairstyle.

Let me get this straight, as you seem to dismiss my concerns as scaremongering and negativity, my concerns are based on the development teams own words.

Yoshida: To be honest, yes we have plans, maybe. The thing is, we’ve run into a few problems, there’s the opinion that if we released it as it was in FFX, players might lose interest in it quickly. Then on the team we had the idea of OK because we’re an MMO, lets make something that fits with the style of game we have. However if we do that, then we’re going away from the Blitzball people know and expect. We’re trying to find a good mix of both sides. Because we have swimming and diving, its natural to get that in the game.

The key thing here is Yoshi Ps worry about balancing it to be the same as FFX and making something that fits with the style of game that we have. This was seen in triple triad and Yoshi P sees that people saying "omg I love blitzball, we want it" (change blitzball to viera and we have this thread), and then as soon as they put in blitzball, people turn around and go "eh, its not how I remember it, they shouldn't have done that".

I don't have an issue with Viera being in the game, my issue is that I am echoing this exact argument above but replacing the word blitzball with Viera. This is especially apparent when people say "no, its ok to change it, we don't mind", newsflash: the community will mind and the developers implementation may be different to how you expect if you say that, especially if they change the name.

Also my solution was just a suggestion, I didn't change goal posts or change my concern, my concern is still about player expectation, HOWEVER I know for a fact that you are far more likely (like going from "not in a million years" to "reasonable request") to get the fran hairstyle and Viera ears headpiece as glamour options, I gave you that idea so that you had a chance at getting Viera, not because I was concerned about resources. You are welcome

I don't want to get too personal on this topic, but Senn, you seem very much set on the fact that Viera will be implemented into the game, and you won't stop until it is. The devs have not made any kind of hints that this will happen except a piece of concept art that was rejected, and I really don't want you to get your hopes up over nothing and I'd rather we wait to see what the devs vision for the coming expansions are, and give them a bit of creative freedom when it comes to the world that they want to create.
