As a healer, is it my job to DPS? A new perspective.

Its optional. Naoki Yoshida said so at pax. If you don't like it then don't play with people of different opinions, but don't pretend its mandatory when it isn't. Yoshida stated that healing is your job specifically. He also said that you could dps if you felt comfortable with it.

I dont even understand how this thread managed to stay open for this long.

Edit: Kicking people for varying play styles is allowed and that includes: "For wanting the healer to dps" as well as "Not wanting to dps as a healer."
If you hate either side to the point that you are going to lose sleep tonight, maybe you should find some like-minded friends and make a static based on your own beliefs. Arguing this after 89 pages is probably going to lead to nothing but more disagreements.
