Well I mean there's a difference between someone repairing your item out of the kindness of their heart and putting it on your retainer and expecting the world to take care of you.
though i guess maybe the repair system is a little unfriendly to casuals.
for most items yes keith. like i have been saying i am not out to kill anyone over prices. if the repair mat for an item costs 300 gil i would gladly do the repair for 500gil. if the material costs 1500 then just a little over 1500 is all i would charge ever. our problem comes from people saying it is our job to repair the gear regardless of the offer. if i spend millions of gil to level a craft then over the course of the game i want to make that money back. i do not try to break even on a repair, but i am not out to kill anyone either.
i just do not want someone coming up to me asking for repairs on a jade hora, which i am not quite high enough to do, but have still been asked to repair it for 500 gil. the item alone is over 20k if you go to the wards. jadeite is a hq material only and it cannot be picked up for anything besides an hq on the raw jade. if you offer a little over value of the item and they will not do it then thatps on them, but myself as long as it is a reasonable offer i accept it but will not lose money to repair someone elses gear.

Yes and no
"Most" of your your repairs would be fine at the 2k pricepoint.
some of them, and very few at that would be higher. Im talking about low level items that for some reason use higher level materials(im looking at you level 1 items that use buffalo spetches!)
as a general rule, alot of us crafters look for 3k as a starting price for repairs. you can probly easily get away with 1k on all cloth repairs up to canvas.
as for stuff thats generaly that low anyway...its so easy to have a craft at level 10 to repair everything up to level 20...why not just use this as an option to repair low level gear yourself?(you can literaly do it in 3-4 days off leves alone for that craft, if not less)
also to anyone quoting SP rewards as a "reward for repairs" you are full of it, we get barely anything for repairs still unless the item is...
a) at 0% durability
b) higher level then our craft
so 99% of the time, we are repairing 50%+ items, for 20 sp a pop...and you can not tell me in any way shape or form that 20 sp is a reward
im going to be putting together a list of repair material cost shortly after the servers go back up and posting them to the synth forums if you really wanna take a look at what it really takes to repair things, for those interested

Keith your on trabia, im on trabia, I have little downtime getting repairs, Know who crafts which craft and youll get your needs met whenver your in uldah. I can rep pretty much everything up to 30, a few things to 40, and one to 50(blacksmith)
I can point you to who weaves, armor, and golds on the server... and if you have leather as well. In elite we have all crafts covered on trabia...
Its not what you need done its who you know! But please do not give up on crafting, High level crafters need lowlevel support because im not going to grind out 3 stacks of iron nuggs( that i dont get sp for) just to fix your sword 9 billion times....

Hi Keith,
For what it's worth, I think that 1000 to 2000 gil is very fair for level 18-20 items.
Some possible problems with offering repair materials as reward:
- The crafter needs to already have the repair material in order to perform the repair, and then will receive more of the material once the repair is completed.
This means that if the crafter doesn't have the repair materials to begin with (even if their level is high enough), they cannot do anything for you unless you do a direct trade first.
- I personally carry a lot of cotton, canvas and velveteen fents, plus various leather spetches, bone chips, nuggets and brass squares. To be completely honest, getting more of these items is not really much of an incentive. ^^;
What I and many other crafters I know do appreciate are shards and crystals. If not gil, maybe shards and crystals might be worth trying?
Well I'd offer shards but I was slowly bringing armorer up do I hang onto my shards.Hi Keith,

I used to have ratio nacl repair my items seeing as we are good friends I gather mats and give to him in return. Haven't seen him on in awhile though.Keith your on trabia, im on trabia, I have little downtime getting repairs, Know who crafts which craft and youll get your needs met whenver your in uldah. I love how ppl justify bs with " I SPENT ALL THIS TIME AND FAKE MONEY TO CLICK BUTTONS, I REQUIRE IT BACK."
that is what exactly it is guys >.>
and it is the role of a crafter to repair, just your choice to do so. If it wasn't a role of a crafter to repair, they wouldn't be able to done it.
You guys lack some commen sense sometimes.
obviousely you trade the mats first.
Sorry i'm sick of seeing the I spent x money to level this classes. Sorry that don't fly everyone pays x money to lvl their classses. You don't hear any DoW demanding tank payment. You don't see healer fee's.
I'm not a stingy person and I never ask for freebie crap. But some of the stuff you guys type are kinda pathetic. I'm not trying to insult but man....
picky ppl. Sorry when I smell a rip off ima say it.
if a person prvides you with mats enough for possible breaks, and possible mats to repair your tools, what is the person paying for? really?
and do not say time and money it took them to lvl... i'm not paying ppl to play a game
