Has anyone else noticed Yoshi's attatude at PAX?

Of course different people have different opinion. But nowhere is it written that one should be the most f#!@$$g annoying a%%#@!e when voicing it, which is just the case in almost every thread.

I can't blame him, these 3 month periods are probably destroying everyone, let alone everything else that we are not aware of for the stress of the job.

Every time something is implemented there's threads on it complaining how horrible it is, how it was a giant failure. Who wants to hear that all the time after you've tried to make something within the boundaries set for you?

All in all, he's very verbal and communicates a ton to our community. Yet he doesn't answer one or two questions, there are roars of him not willing to talk to the players. Here's the thing, if you're getting a generic answer it's because the real answer is something you don't want to hear that (meaning that person is the problem) or it throws someone under the bus that would just cause drama or someone their job.

The game implements a pair of gloves that only men or women characters can wear and instantly there's a 30 page thread about how it is unfair. When that person is probably not going to wear them or they have an exact same pair..that they'll wear for 2 weeks until they change it again. Naturally there are complaints for each scenario are but are they really that valid? Do they carry that much weight?

He is right, no matter what you do people will complain. You make a dungeon too hard, people complain, make it too easy they complain. Players refusing to adjust to the party scenario and causing tension within their own community forcing the game to respond. This is why we don't have bee's at the wall anymore. Of course there are some things that had to be changed that weren't that great, but when you implement something you're bound to forget something or break something. People outside of that world seem to forget that.

If the western community, especially NA, don't tone back their toxicity, start being more constructive in their feedback and stop posting the same just downright petty at this point threads over and over that have appeared lately, SE may shut the door on listening completely. And other developers will use it as an example of why not to bother.

That is a good point, some of the suggestions are either so vague "Make it better" that it doesn't help. Others are just very blunt, and even if they have good ideas the ideas are lost within the tone of their post. You can have a wonderful idea but if you start off something offensive, no one wants to hear from you.

On another note; I hope the team in Japan takes reasonable steps to look after themselves, and plans how to manage a healthy work/life balance. 2016 was a horror year of losing young over worked talent in that country, and a big company like SE could use their position to positively address that issue.

Well, can you blame him? I look at the forums for five minutes and I feel discouraged and crestfallen. It's not about giving thumbs up where they are not deserving, it's about having respect to one's work. Instead, there are waves and waves of sarcastic and passive aggressive posts and comments about the i280 weapons. Have one topic, express yourself if it bothers you so and move on.

Yoshi has been working two jobs while being paid for one, runs an arguably under-budgeted team on very tight release schedules, and now has to deal with rabid fans asking ridiculous questions that have either been answered a dozen times before or are straight up ignorant of many of the considerations they have to make for every single thing they implement, and the stuff they do implement gets second-guessed and criticized nonstop by extremely vocal minorities.

Yeah, I think the guy is a tiny bit strained.

If all of you are so intelligent and good game developers, go and make your own online game with hundreds of players complaining at you and calling you lazy, time waster or whatever for everything after you spent your time doing the game. Maybe then you will realised how hard is it.

Its not our job to know how to design a game. Its our job to play, critique, talk about the good and the bad. We suggest ideas on things we would possibly liked changed and hope for changes. Always ignoring a part of the player base to only please another part of the player bases because they fit the "new model" isn't right and its why a good deal of people are becoming less supportive. He's in a position where you need a thick skin.

I'm kind of worried what I saw was real. Its the first sign of a Producer leaving a project and I'm not sure I would keep playing if he left.

I know some people that had the luck to meet him personal outside of events and he is for some time now tired to be producer and director in one person. He really wants to do something else, but is bound within his job, as nobody else wants to do it.

I like the one showing Minfilia basically saying "You can't please everyone." I, personally, would outright have a list of answered questions since the dawn of the first interview so any overlaps can be overwritten by something not asked before. Sort of like how Customer Service pages will have the FAQ list and even when typing in something you think is super special, it auto suggests something very similar though not word for word.

Yeah, I think this is starting to show. He's wanted to just have the director role for a while now, but they either can't find someone fit to take over as producer, or nobody wants to for whatever reason. Really hope the guy doesn't break, though I suppose the Japanese can endure more than most when it comes to corporate pressure.

That being said, I think he really does care about FFXIV a lot, which is probably one of the reasons he's still doing what he's doing.
