Hey guys, I came back to the game after not playing since January. I remember it used to be much easier to craft than it is now. I am level 19 and failed 1/5 of the level 20 leve, with master access. Is that normal? How can I ensure more successes? Also I don't have any books I never found a way to get guild marks and still don't know how to. Any Ideas?

The difficulty of a leve is dependant entirely on what item the leve is having you craft. Check out the recipe on one of the database websites (yg, zam, etc) to find the level of the synth, you may have to look for the non-dated version since some of those haven't updated the names. Even a level 20 leve may have a level 24 or more synth.

Also, some dated items require access and can be helped by the training books, while the new recipes (which are not used in leves very often right now) don't require either. Failing one of five on a leve isn't a big deal if the synth itself is a few levels higher than you.

Other than that I'd ensure that the optimal level on all your gear is LOWER than 19, as you get no benefit at all from gear over your level.

I haven't really crafted much since 1.19 mostly because im waiting for the sites to update the recipes and what the stats on the new finished items are (I don't love crafting anywhere near close enough to experiment with it, I just want exp)

Did 1.19 invalidate this guide and has anyone been able to turn any kind of profit skilling up a craft since 1.19? I remember pre patch I could make so many intermediate materials that in the long run my finished mats made me some money back but now I highly doubt it. TWO (raw materia) = only one bloody thread. The prices of everything have peaked through the roof and the only way to not break the bank appears to farm the raw materials yourself. Any advice?

Thanks for the quick reply! I sure will remember your advice and keep trying!

I'm having trouble getting some guild marks. Is there a better way to get them besides doing the level 20+ leves from the adventurer guild? Also, I want to make some stuff to sell because I'm really in need of money. Being level 20 now and all appropriate gear for my level, what should I make that sells for good amount of money nowadays? it used to be cotton cowls back when I stopped playing. Curious what you guys think I should synth. Only weaver levels no other levels in anything to craft other stuff a weaver can't.

The guide is valid as you can still make dated items. Also, the ratios of shards and mats to cloth is relatively the same.

You can ONLY get guildmarks from Uldah for weaver, since that's where the guild is, and anything 15 and up will give you marks randomly. As for money... I tend to just stick to making material for others to use and selling those (as in, thread, cloth). Most of my money comes from botany for me.
