Patently wrong, and something I've seen pop up repeatedly in this thread. Black mages specialize in attack magic and debuffs. White mages have traditionally specialized in curative and defensive magicks. The only reason why black mages have seemed to be elementalists is because the primary forms of offensive magic in the series has usually been elemental, but there's also spells like poison and drains, which thaum also has which are also the domain of the black mage.
