New diadem weapons invalidating any work from savage raiders and relic grinders

I understand peoples concerns about this becoming a thing but to me it feels like it's there to get players to do diadem at the end of this expansion. I however would not put myself through that even if it was ilvl 300, the amount of time and dumb luck needed just isn't worth it.

I think everyone here is missing a very important point. What content is there that makes having a i280 weapon even worth it. I doubt someone is getting the weapon and say, oh now I'll start Alex savage, it just doesn't happen. There's no point in getting it if there's no purpose. There's nothing to do. Storm blood will have i280 weapons on tap at launch.

IF you think there's no point in doing Alexander and completing it now, then you've had the wrong idea approaching Alexander in the first place. You were after Alexander for the challenge, to beat hard content and to say you got it done. The reward at the end is icing on the cake, sure, but it never had any statistical pourpose for the next ilvl rise. It would be replaced by the next grinded or crafted weapon, which may even be a requirement for completing the next raid - so you can't even call it progression content like the armor you get on the climb up to the final floor. It's there to complete the set. That's all.

Too many people bought into the illusion of value that's put into these stats. What you get out of raiding is effectively a glamour set. That's not changed.

These ilvl 280 weapons? They don't even have that, and their stats only hold value till Stormblood - then, like all the rest, their stats will expire to power creep. Difference is, no glamour to move up to the potentially gaudy weapons that you'll get in the quest-line - and no reminder of a sense of accomplishment you'll still get from the weapons obtained in Alexander.

As far as those who don't have the weapons now? You've already had six months to accomplish this. (Remember, it only took TWO DAYS for world first, maybe even less?) And you still have three more months with the potential of using the Coven weapons to help you clear the fights and get you these accomplishments and glamours (or not, if that's important to you and your group.)

If the fights are meaningless now to you, then perhaps you're playing for the wrong reasons to begin with. Because this power thing has always been an illusion.

I have my Relic and I don't feel like my time/work got invalidated. I got a shiny weapon which will serve me as glamour (which it was through the whole HW time anyway) for quite some time into SB, a funny storyline (Gerolt is awesome lol) and a minion.

For me there is no point in being upset about this

I'm not upset and I have multiple 275 relics on my main and alts. Light gathering for my summoner at the moment and whether or not I attempt another remains to be seen once done with that one.

Eh, no it's still a shiny trophy and always will be. Just because there are more trophies out there to get now doesn't make the previous ones you obtained 'trumped' or worthless.

I wasn't aware there could only be one trophy at a time. Relics are still incredibly good weapons to have, and I have no intentions of quitting on my third relic just cause this one came out. It's not always about the destination, and having a shiny pink trophy does not invalidate the effort people put into acquiring their purple/blue trophy.

Purple is always the best tier in this game and it should have stayed that way. SE failed to acknowledge that and have become disrespectful towards players that put time and time into grinding the anima. Now someone can afk in Diadem which is new crap content btw.. diadem with fates. People leave if EM doesn't trigger... 280 weapon is the new content... not diadem.

Incorrect. Top tier weapons have always been blue ones, except the end of ARR in which it was purple. Relic has always, always been behind because raiders would complain constantly.
