Yes you do, because they did send me a code, so I can activate the early access to the game, there's just no place to put it in, or if the "Enter Item code" is the place to put it in then someone duped my code and has stolen my early access.

Correct. When it comes to PlayStation Network purchases, all of that (pre-order bonuses entitlement, ability to play at release, etc.) is done as part of the purchase and requires no code redemption on the part of the user.
