There's always gonna be someone who gets boned, sadly. I worked night shift and my prime hours were right when maintenance started. Legit, the moment I come home? It begins. But at least it's not forever.

Well this is a much earlier maintenance now, so you can't say it's just Oceanic being affected. This is right in NA prime playtime.

Why does there always have to be a short end of the stick though? Out of the AAA MMO's out there (and this games #1 competitor, WoW), the weekly server downtime is sometimes less than an hour (if not just rolling restarts). There will of course be update patches which will of course see longer than normal maintenance times, but for the weekly server care, i am sure there are far more efficient ways than they are doing it.

(And i know i shouldn't have to say it.. but the internet is the internet. Criticizing the way SQE chooses to do something is not an attack on them.)

Sorry to say.. but its just something that has to be dealt with. I've always stated in NA developed MMOs that if I were to play a different timezone'd game, that I'd deal with it. And thus I am (Last maintenance was 9pm to 6am local time for me, that was just a night I wasn't able to play). If this was a AU/Oceana developed game I'd deal with their times as well.

The developer's timezone is when the time should take place. People from Oceania seem to always get the short end of the stick. I'm surprised you all haven't made a MMORPG of your own. Then you'd have your own maintenance times.

I mean... does 1 day every 2-3 weeks really matter? You say you'd like them to rotate the times but you have to bear in mind that on the other end of the maintenance are real people who are conducting it. They do the maintenance in their actual work hours. If they were to rotate the times they would be working overtime, missing family time etc. I would rather have a couple of days a month where I was unable to pay rather than have people miss out on the more important things in life.

I hate to say it to the OP but from SE's point of view they have more than likely picked the best time to do the maintenance

if you take into account of server stats (which i'm guessing a low number of people login across the NA/EU datacenter when OP wants to login)

SE would have to think about screwing over as low number of people as posible but also having the staff availble to do the maintenance (on NA time)

as for emergency maintenance this can't be helped and the Aether Data center is quite populated so problems are a lot worst and so need emergency maintenance more (blame the RP'er on Balmung for this)
