Grand company promotions

Yeah but... I mean, it was kind of obvious? New rank comes up, new squadron stuff launches same time. I just put two-and-two together and assumed that's where the promotion would come from.

But not everyone will even know that a new rank came up, let alone know when either it or squadrons were introduced. Unless it's changed in the last couple months, the NPC who tells you about promotions still tells you outright that 2nd Lieutenant is the highest rank available and that there are no more promotions to be had. When told there are no more ranks, it would be more obvious to believe that and think there are no more ranks.

For that matter, there's no mention of squadrons either if you're on a DoH/DoL class whenever you go to the GC headquarters (which is the case for a lot of people, whose main purpose for going there is the supply/provision missions). You have to be on a combat job in order for squadrons to be introduced. Anywhere else in the game, if there's a quest that requires a different class/job, you'd get a red unavailable quest icon, but not here. Here if you don't happen to coincidentally be on the right job when you're there, there's no indication that there's anything there for you.

Both squadrons and the new 1st Lieutenant rank were introduced badly. That introduction to them really needs to be fixed. The dialog to begin a squadron needs to be turned into a proper quest, one that shows up regardless of your class and goes in the Quest Journal and Duty List just like any other quest for unlocking a new feature. And the NPC who tells you the requirements for each (other) promotion needs to tell people about this one as well.

(That is, unless it already has been fixed in the last couple months. Anybody have a character reach that point since the last update? Is the Personnel Officer still claiming there is no rank beyond 2nd Lt.?)
