That guide promotes a high mobility, low panoply configuration that isn't specifically applicable to FFXIV. Here, you need a configuration that can accommodate a large panoply (32 abilities for most jobs; more on SMN/SCH), with minimal movement.

I use a similar setup in that guide, works fine for me:
QWE movement
1234 ASDF ZXCV hotbar modified by alt and shift (36 abilities)
F1-F6 for some extra pvp abilities and SCH/SMN stuff (+6 = 42 total abilities)
+ some random other binds, face target, autorun and such near by.

Like I said, it's up to personal preference and was just something to get started with if you have no ideas.
