Drg vs. Nin - Wanted some of your knowledge

    Hey guys,

Been having fun with a lot of the physical DPS roles these days, and wanted some of your knowledge to decide on what side of the fence to fall on. I have been having fun with the Drg side of the coin for a tiny bit, but also with the Ninja. Both seem to be able to dish out some nice damage. On Drg I seem to be able to take some nice punishment while throwing out some of the smackdown. While on Nin, I am able to bring in some utility while throwing out some damage. Just wanted information from your point of views guys on what might be a better option in terms of end game (IE popular, damaging, utility wise, survival wise). It is hard for me to decide on what to focus on because both are fun and neat for different reasons. Thanks for your patience on another of these threads.

    Cheers

Well, having both a DRG and a NIN is considered optimal on raid composition in endgame, soooooo. It depends really. If you like big numbers, go with DRG.

it depends on your gaming style

I play both, yet I main DRG.

To me I'm a big fan, nice DPS based on how well you play. There are some bad DRG out there. Overall it's well balanced in my opinion.

Nin on the other hand is a bit trick more of a support DPS type, nice dmg depending on gear as well. Once again it depends how well you know the job.

I Just swap back and forth and currently working on relic for NIN.

DRG For life :P in my case.

If you want to see it also varies on parameters, I focus on skill speed and critical for both.

Hitting harder is DRG and hitting quicker ninja. In terms of end-game they are both optimal and an optimal party has both of them so doesn't really matter which one you pick. Utility wise Ninja is far superior with aggro managing skills and party damage increase while DRG only has a very strong party damage increse. Survival wise, nin is slightly ahead with higher base movement speed while having less animation locks. But the biggest and most important thing is if you like the slower speed of drg or higher speed of ninja and if you prefer static rotation (Dragoon) or fluid priority system (Ninja).

The damage difference between both Dragoon and Ninja varies. For instance, this tier saw Ninja pull ahead due to have a boatload of amazing gear selection. From a mechanics perspective, it depends primarily on whether you want to play a pseudo-support role or straight damage. Ninja has a fairly large amount of micromanagement to be aware of, especially in optimized settings. You have DoTs to watch, knowing when to Shadewalker the tank, Goad usage, Smokebomb, Mudras, Trick Attack timing and etc. While rewarding once you get the gist of it, Ninja can be somewhat overwhelming. Dragoon, comparatively, is a far more straight forwarded job. Your DoT management is apart of your base rotation, so you'll only occasionally have to consider Phlebotomize placement. It also doesn't suffer nearly to the degree Ninja can if you have latency issues.

Short version: Do you fancy micromanagement and strong raid utility or straight forward utility and raw damage.

Personally, I suggest taking both to 60-- perhaps in PotD-- and seeing how they feel.
