A couple of years ago, I was in a levelling dungeon roulette as BRD. The other DPS kept asking the tank if he could leave some of the mobs as DPS wanted to aggro and tank. Obviously the tank was just doing what he does best and continued to hold aggro on mobs very well. DPS took it upon himself to moan the entire dungeon about how utterly bored he was and how much DPSing sucks and how the tank was an asshole for taking all the aggro away from him? Best thing I remember was him asking "is everyone having fun?", me and the healer were there like "yeah I guess!" His response - "well at least somebody is".
Was definitely one of the weirder DFs I've took part in.

I queued up for Am HM for the SCH anima step with my friend who MTd. Our dps were a fairly good MCH & a SMN. I throw up dots & be a DPS bot for the first pull & as I go to refresh them I notice my arcanist dots are alone. So I watch the SMN...no Aetherflow...okay. No casts going off either....okay. Oh. They're spamming Ruin 2. That's it. Only Ruin 2. And not even consistently, they'd use it once every 10~ seconds & then do nothing while Garuda attacked.
I've personally never seen someone like this before...I've seen Heavy Thrust spamming DRG but never "just stand around & do nothing & occasionally atrack DPS". I tell my friend if they keep it up I'm going to kick them. He tells me it's fine & to just carry. The second(& very large pull) to the egg sacs starts & the SMN uses Miasma 2 on the mobs then Aetherflow! Then Painflare!!! Then....nothing. I throw up all my dots & bane then start healing the tank & the SMN finally threw out....Ruin 2. I am fuming inside at how someone could be so irresponsibly selfish. I tell my friend I'm gonna kick them after the boss if they still do nothing.
So he pulls. Mch goes ham & the SMN...stands next to me & does nothing. Moth casts that turn away attack & she does nothing...so the clone fires the gigantic aoe across the map & hits the tank. Smn uses Ruin 2...then Miasma. Then nothing. I kid you not...absolutely nothing until an Aoe where they'd dodge it(gee thanks). The boss goes really slow but when it's finally over I fire up the ol boot, she is gone & we get a BRD who played like a pro & even used Foe's! The end.
I have no idea why this made me laugh so hard, but I know that feeling.
In Dun Scaith today, I started seriously considering just sticking to the level 50 BLM rotation as opposed to the level 60 one, because it seems like trying to keep Enochian up just gets me killed or is otherwise impossible because of all the movement in there. For the last 3 boss fights, I kept mainly to the 50 rotation unless I knew I could afford to stand still for a while, and did comparable damage to the other two similarly-geared BLMs in the party, while also staying alive.
I kept track of my deaths in that run, 4 or 5 total. I have a dream that someday, I'll be able to make it through the entire raid without dying, as a BLM. Exited at the end to see 5 comms. I have no idea why, but thanks!

I had to MT DS24man. No wipes, as a pally I'm not used to MTing HW content and especially since I'm usually kicked from savage for being a pally to begin with but I digress.
No wipes, was a lot of fun. The only sketchy part was boss before Diablo my alliance went into tunnel vision DPS mode at 11% and everyone in the alliance died (Sacred Ground or whatever it's called saved me) but still cleared the fight due to the other alliances being on point.
I surprised myself with how smooth my MTing went and that I heldon't aggro the entire time. Proud of myself and had and lot of fun
Another Dun Scaith tale
i MT diablos as drk. fight goes well enough. he enters final form
my gear is at 150 percent condition, my tank stance is on, and i have a defensive CD up. im at full health
dia hits me with hollow camisado
im dead in that single hit
i still have no idea what the f**k happend

Same here, really. The only time I survive as a BLM in DS is in the full Midgardsormr alliance that me and a few friends organize weekly.
Yesterday I did DS on my alt (which is slightly undergeared-- my chestpiece and a couple accessories were still i250). The first two bosses were fine, but at Scathach, the MT died very early on, so the other BLM in my party (who was pretty much BiS sans the new Ultima accessories) was tanking. They died. Scathach turned to me next. At this point my healers realized what was going on and were spamming heals on me to try and keep me alive. Hell, healers in other alliances were helping out to ensure I didn't turn into a mashed potato.
A minute later, I was still tanking.
I used quelling as soon as it was available again. I spent long periods of time not being able to attack because her autos hit hard enough to interrupt my casting. At some point I had to sprint for dear life because the person who got targeted by the big black ball thing was running in my direction. Other people in the alliance are begging for a tank get the boss off me.
STILL TANKING.
It's only after add phase is over and I have quelling strikes again that a tank finally takes her back... For three GCDs. I stole hate again while quelling was still on and here is where I finally succumbed to the sweet embrace of death.
I died two more times that run, one was admittedly my fault because I absolutely just had to use my thundercloud proc as soon as I was raised... while Scathach was casting thirty souls. Then in last phase, one dummy who got targeted by the black balls decided to run through the alliance rather than towards the edges, killing 6 people (myself included).
Being a BLM is suffering, really.

I just had a Warrior who never used Storm's Eye except to overwrite my Dancing Edge. He wouldn't use, so I put up mine and then he used it. It wore off and he didn't put it back it up. So I did. And then he used Storm's Eye again. And it happened a third time. And I don't mean he did it right away, like he was in the middle of a combo when he over wrote it. I mean there was enough time for him to see that I had it up and for him to use it. I just don't know.

I joined a Baelsar's Wall at the last boss with 37 minutes having passed and after the first lionshead I understood why. The dps was abysmally slow. I felt like I was dpsing alone on brd. There was no bonus, but every so often the other 3 would get hit with flash powder. The worst part was when lionshead came out, even while it was casting, the other 3 would stop attacking and go stand in the middle and wait. I wound up taking hate from the DRK a few times because I was the only person attacking during that time. I was curious and decided to take a sanguine blade so I could keep dpsing. The healer immediately tried lecturing me about stressing the healer (full mp). I took my lumps, said nothing and left feeling like I should never click join in progress again.
O black mages, take up thy sacred duty!
Assume thy noble role of tanks for thee!
For actual tanks who thus forget thine jobs,
carry us, carry us, whether bosses or mobs!
Leveling roulette as PLD dropped me into Titan today, with an AST, a SMN, and a newbie DRG.
Oh yeah, a newbie DRG. In Titan. A black guy would probably have a higher chance of survival in a horror movie.
I offered to explain mechanics, but this DRG said nothing, so I assumed they would be fine, and started. And to this DRG's credit, they survived the first Geocrush! Yup, it was the second Geocrush that got them! They were right next to me, but chose to stand outside the red circle. Watching them fall to their death was one of the most adorably hilarious things I've seen in a while.
In the final phase, the SMN chose a very bad time to channel LB, and ended up eating a Landslide to their death. No word on whether or not that LB actually hit. So it was just me and the AST, and I found out that as PLD, I can break the gaol on my own with FoF popped. And finished off Titan. Yay!
