While, yes, raiding isn't technically competitive, it does not change the fact that a lot of time and effort goes into it. Yes it takes you pvpers months of work to get your rewards, but it can be the same for raiders. For some it takes months to even clear one of the raid floors. Players are able to cheat through raid content because SE allows them to. They were the ones who chose to allow older raids to be unsynced. They didn't have to, but they did. And it's not surprising they give others a chance at pvp rewards too.
Both raiders and pvpers put a lot of time and effort into what they do. IMHO, there should be a form of exclusivity for everyone or none at all. Pvpers should not be the only ones to get exclusivity, when others put in exactly the same amount of time and effort into what they do.
Exclusivity for all, or for none at all.
TC is mad that I made a topic in the PvP forum about the mounts. That's what this is about.
Those Cheaters definitely deserve those mounts. +1
Please bear with me as this might become a lengthy answer. While, yes, raiding isn't technically competitive, it does not change the fact that a lot of time and effort goes into it. I agree with you that raiders work just as hard. But by the game's design, those rewards become transient and outdated, even by sub-raid gear itself when new patches come out. The challenge itself however doesn't as players don't have to run them unsynced (or rather, have the option to retain the challenge via Minimum Item Level), and lack of knowledge of the raid still can make the difference between success or failure. T7, 11, and to a lesser degree, 13 are proof of this.
PvP however is different in that it's a dynamic experience. You will almost never have the same experience in there, and sometimes even your best efforts aren't successful. This is simply how competition works. Not only that, but the Feast is the one exception with PvP rewards, as everything til now has been achievement (time/effort) based. The rewards may be incentive to compete for some, but beyond that, there hasn't been much for PvPers at all. Before Garo, the last time we got new gear was 3.25 - the start of the Feast. Item Level 205, when 230/240 was the new standard. And we got this 3 and a half patches later. Between that, plenty of PvE content, gear, rewards, mounts, etc. Nothing stopped PvPers from getting those if they worked for them, but during all that time - rather only until the Garo event of 3.5, most seemed unwilling/uninterested in PvP spoils that they had equal amounts of time to try to get. This is where we diverge on our views.
PvP and its players have been treated like the redheaded stepchild of FFXIV for a while now. We get very little, and very little is done in support of what little we get. People see the rewards we work hard for - and let's be realistic for a moment: This is an MMO. We ALL like the shiny stuff, and we ALL like to show off our shiny stuff - but when they find out it's from PvP, you can almost see the interest switch turn off in their head. Much like you occasionally get someone who pops into a dungeon or raid and has virtually no idea what they're doing, we get that as well, and attempts to try and teach are often met with hostility/disinterest. Add to that, the often groundless stigmas people carry about PvP - having never tried it but simply going by word of mouth - which only serves to complicate getting into it for those who may hold some interest, at least til now. We can thank Frontline Freelancer and the Garo event for jumpstarting queues, at least.
It's like this: IF you want something in this game, you gotta work for it. Yes, some things are exclusive, but there's always valid reason for that. I'm not a legacy player. I don't have, don't deserve, and am perfectly fine with not having any legacy rewards/spoils. I competed for top 100 in Season 3, but lacked the time to stay in the competition, so I don't have a mount. I'm okay with that. I mentioned before that almost anything in this game takes time, skill, effort, or all 3. PvP takes all 3. If someone won't even make the time for PvP, let alone the effort, they don't deserve the rewards earned with skill. At the same time, MANY people with the skills who took the time to make the effort didn't get it. But again, that's how competition works. You win some, you lose some, but most importantly, you keep going. You keep competing. To the victor goes the spoils.
As an addendum: We ALL agree the cheaters don't deserve those rewards. But the responsibility of handling that is not on us players, but SE themselves. I however do fully encourage everyone to speak up on that. It's not right, and definitely not fair to those who tried their best but fell short, or were overtaken by those who cheated.

Hi i like fish
I mean, to be fair, PVP-ers get an equal shot at items us PVE-ers (raiders) get. I mean as shown with coil savage, our savage raids will be available to unsync once rendered obsolete/old content. The hard work people put into those raids while it was still current don't get to keep their exclusivity. If raiders don't get to keep their cake, why should pvpers? You get to enjoy it by yourself for a short period, but then you get forced to share, like the rest of us.
(I'm not complaining, just making a point. Er...trying to.)
This is the exact same comment I made on the facebook post SE left us.
I dont like the idea of PvP-ers having mounts and minions tied to PvP. I feel that bragging rights, the lodestone ranking, a title and/or some kind of armor or weapon is a more justified reward for PvP content. Hell give them their own housing trophy for all I care!
What really isn't kosher with me is locking rewards to a tier of elite or lucky players within that content. Once that content becomes obsolete, it should become available to all players, either in another way, or in a reduced difficulty option like the rest of the PvE/PvP(non-feast) content.
Yes stop asking that question. The real question you should ask going forward is "No more items that have limited amount." You can't ask for a limited time window since seasonal is time. But does this game actually have anything outside of feast that has a finite amount? Seriously I am curious if the game has an item only 100 or 1000 people could get.
Put the feast rewards in mogstation.
( i'd love to see the comunity response to it, i'd laugh so hard )
Just to see the forums burn lol
Serious now, in my opinion, people shouldnt care so much when theres so many cool mounts and minions there, and to show off, i wouldnt bat my eye to those, i got better things to do ingame.
I've no problem with not having everything.
But in my experience things can devolve into elitism if people are mean enough.
I understand though that earning something exclusive is quite a rewarding feeling and having exclusiveNess can lead to bigger community participation is certain areas.
In a world where everyone wants to win there must be losers. I digress.
I give the community benefit of the doubt.
But if it were on mog station... more money gives reason to better content. 'Course, I'm not exactly a fan of the mogstation.
While I'm not being in depth nor do I care to. There are pros and cons to both sides
As much as I want the blue onion knight helm that came with the 1.0 collectors edition (that can be used by any class and is dyeable) I will never be able to to get it. Even if I buy a code on ebay it wouldn't work anymore cuz the codes don't work anymore. I mean I would buy it in the cash shop but I mean it's an exclusive thing that preorderers got.
I just really like the Onion Helm and fear tanking.
