If it's "just as legitimate" why not go with "greed" for a level playing field? Exclusive rights to selfishness perhaps? No one has said that, they are saying it's just as legititmate a reason to roll on need for something. If they win the items for such a use then no-one has any right to complain about it, everyones access to loot is exactly the same. If someone doesn't like that then they hate the idea of fairness.
Urm cannot desynth lvl 250 crafted items ulness you've got a pretty high desynth level anyway (kinda defeats the point of "leveling" it), and people do not want to spend millions on GC seals.
(Yes, you can desynth, there's the i220 set too for levelling it, and the cost is nowhere near a million even if you buy mats off the MB.)
Because it's not as simple as just "greed one everything", the initial element is that stuff for your job even drops to roll need on it. Everyone has has chance of not getting anything to need on, so you are not just asking people to throw away their possible only chance to guarentee and item you are also saying people who want it for classes they arn't even playing have more "need" of it than everyone else. It's hypocrisy.
Urm you do realise not everyone can craft, not everyone has gil to burn and not everyone can make 70-80 lvl 60 items to get the 80k seals required for their anima weapon for example? So now it's down to who's rich enough can now go forth and play by your standards? Less rich people should just shoot themselves in the foot anyway coz you say so?
Or everyone can grow up and say it's fair the way it is. So I get to roll on low level tank loot as my MCH and have as equal chance? Sure I'll be down with that... I somehow think this idea would prompt you knee's to jerk as I'm not allowed to get anything because I committed the henious crime of leveling up and getting some gear.
If there isn't a BRD or MCH in my group other than me then no-one in that group needs any more than eachtother and I've got the lucky drop, get over it.
I also love the hypocrisy (out and out calling us selfish) since this is coming from someone who has made a character one every single Chaos datacentre server with the same name so no-one "steals" it from you. Doesn't matter that you don't play on those servers you have just taken the name there anyway.
I always find it amusing as those who act like they are on the higest horse usually never hold to their own standards yet has the audacity to ask others why they don't.

It is as simple as all-greed, actually; there is a table on a previous page, nvm I'll link it again:
Would you prefer a 25% min. chance of getting something to turn-in or a ≤20% one?
(Remember you can't expect a courtesy you didn't care to offer.)
If you 're trying to get the sands with moonstones bought with GC seals.. oh well, ask for some tips.
It's much easier to keep in touch with people who have left for other servers by having a character there than doing world transfers back and forth. It's why you see so many ppl doing this.
(Thanks for ths screenshot btw, reminds me I've yet to visit someone on Moogle)
If you need, for example, loot for your MNK (or whatever class), why don't you simply enter the dungeon with your MNK? ö.ö
And if I choose to enter a dungeon as MNK, because I want a specific piece of gear for MNK, for whatever reason I have, why should I be not in the right to take that piece? Ever since I entered to get it...
This whole discussion is confusing me, because SE gave you the literal possibility to get things, the only thing you have to do for that is enter as that specific class. x.x![]()

Some background reading for you:

You ignored the relevant point (click the "show" section, it won't bite).
And you are moving this off-topic.
Anyways:
First of all, why would someone want to use my character name? Any ideas about that?
Secondly, the name was available for a looooooong time, about a year after my first character on some servers. If someone wanted it they could just take it.
Thirdly, out-of-game communication is reserved for out-of-game people.
Finally, it would be much more effective to have characters with different names if they were used for stalking. Plus, they would need to have access to other areas too than just Ul'dah.
Not sure about your relic, I didn't bother with Lodestone for stalking yet, but in the example you mentioned there are more fundamental things to be clarified to that (hypothetical?) player than getting loot for seals turn-ins.
I know those and I have posted something in there as well, I think. Some background reading for you:

It's just... If you have a low weapon then go for the next higher one? Or get a crafted one? You said before that everyone who wants to desynthezise (sorry, no native english, not sure how to spell x.x) you should go get crafted gear. Uhm... If you are having a hard time in dungeons, because of lacking ilvl, why don't you go and get crafted gear? ö.ö It's 5 ilvl above highest dungeon drop so...
I can see why it's frustrating sometimes and I do get your point that it might be hard to equip off classes, but I think the way you want to solve the problem is the wrong one and you are trying to bring up arguments which can be turned around too easily :x
So no real solution here. :/
Even if you are not Level60 yet and want leveling gear you can go get the crafted stuff. It might be below your level, like: you are level 55 and gear is lvl53, but that is still fairly good for your dungeons.
Or, if you are level60 and want to equip other classes without playing them you can still do Alex NM, which gives you items you can exchange for gear for literally every class. ^^ Maybe that system might be better for you and fit yout needs? ^^
So wait, am I the only person who only needs if it's an item I haven't gotten yet (and will usually still pass if I know someone needs it for stats)? If I'm planning to desynth or turn in I'll usually greed instead, unless it's a material or something that everyone can need on.
Seriously, I just assumed this was the proper etiquette for these situations.
Switch the 'z' and the 's' and you're fine.
Mhmm coz there arn't things like Discord etc. All communication has to be done in game and on lvl 1 characters apparently :PIt is as simple as all-greed, actually; there is a table on a previous page, nvm I'll link it again:

Lol!!! Like I don't have an anima and have zero clue about how to get one haha! Omg trying to put me down like I have zero idea what I'm talking about based on nothing but your bitterness is kinda hilarious xD
Am just gonna translate this for everyone "If I do something for me it's not selfish, if you do something for you you are"
I wouldn't visit if they have made zero effort to stay in touch and intentionally moved away from you (well you certainly not a factor on them remaining). That is ofc if there is anyone in the first place. Has a strange air of crazy stalker person about it if you ask me if I'm being honset... Like "no-one can get away from me ever! I will follow you across servers!"
All greed so you always have to outroll at least 3 other people to get anything for any reason. Urm hell no, if I get a drop for me it's mine and am sorry you can't deal with that but that's the way it is. This works for every single person in the party, including you. If you chose not to take it that's down to you but that is your choice, you cannot force your choices on everyone else and call them rules.
Coz that requires logic and critical thinking. Everyone else has to change the rules to accomodate people who like to complain about something totally within their power to avoid. If you need, for example, loot for your MNK (or whatever class), why don't you simply enter the dungeon with your MNK? ö.ö
