I'd rather be dead (ingame) than pay to play dead.
On the other note, I already spotted people who actually bought the emote. Shame on them.

Can't put shame on people for having a highly disposable income. Be it they earned the money or just have a mommy/daddy that can't say no to their brat, they have the right to spend it as they please. Shame on whoever put it i the cash shop though.
I play this game because when I started, it wasn't a "pay for fun" cash shop game. Mounts and outfits that dont really belong in universe, whatever. But not things that honestly could have been there from the start. Like /backflip. Given that the WoL can jump from like 200ft and their body isn't red paste- I dont think a backflip is too strenuous.
I feel this is the disconnect. People think that people who don't like the cash shop complain because they don't have the money. It is not a money issue (guilty of spending 200 on a silly transformer). It is the idea that the company is abusing the customer base.
If they announce that the veteran rewards is replaced with tokens. The tokens are then for cash shop items I could probably give a pass. Because then everyone who pays can have the same experience at the same price. People who want it faster can spend a little extra.
Not just a FF14 problem, but we have to reach a tipping point with micro transactions (hope?/believe?). The movie industry for years has spent squeezing their fan base. Less people lets just sell them higher tickets with extras. Recent articles at least point to a fear that people could stop showing up in droves.
I get where you're coming from, but it isn't my point. I do have the money for these emotes, but why don't I buy? Because I dont support this kind of business. I'll pay for additional retainers because they're actually useful and reasonably priced for their function. But that $7 is gonna go to something else irl I'd rather spend it on. Like pads or something.
But, the other post was trying to shame people for buying it, and while I get why they would do so, I dont believe one should shame someone for having the money to waste on virtual goods along with the act.
I agree with not shaming players in pretty well any situation. But the dev team and corporate SE they have stuff to answer to in my book. Maybe we could call the cash shop buyers realists. They knwo SE doesn't care about the player base and this is the way it is going to be.
The dev team lol. They are peons. Not matter what they want, they can be replaced by another person. The only one SE could have a difficult to change right away is Yoshi P, and any other face that is the image of game. Blame the corporation along for they are the one with the money and contract to push and rush their employees.I agree with not shaming players in pretty well any situation. I totally agree with the groups saying that we should earn the emote by a side quest game and the group asking to reduce the cost. $7 is a price not everybody can or won't be able to afford and agree that we shouldn't say bad things to people who can afford to pay for the emote. They got the money to "waste" according to some players. It is their money and decision.
