Maybe once we have decent cloth physics. Until then I'd prefer to avoid capes of any sort.
Yeah, no thanks.
Clipping + Clothing Pyshics. This would be a disaster.
Plus capes are in general gaudy / hideous.
You want capes? Glam on the gear that already has them.
You want your FC Emblem? Put it on your gear then.
We need capes. They're essential to fantasy styled games, especially for knightly leaders.
I am the Fist of Retribution
While I don't think this game could do capes very well (i mean they've tried and failed for a couple character armors already), I'd LOVE a guild scarf/half-cape. ♥o♥
~sigh~
That is exactly my point. Why take away that possibility just because some do not agree? Isn't it discrimination not to keep what everyone wants into account at the same time? Why say its bad because you don't agree, knowing that there are others that DO agree with this idea. I believe adding a slot for capes, scarf, bowtie or tie.. would improve how one could customise their appearance wich is great for glamour, especialy if you can dye it.
How can some of you be "against" this? Do you dislike people looking hot and cool?
You are getting a little bit touchy here OP . These forums are where people come to share their opinions. If you post yours be prepared to accept that others will not feel the same and many that are against capes/scarves have very good points as to why we don't have them and why they should not be implemented yet.
From a realistic standpoint, I don't see them adding this. The reason we don't have more capes on the armor now, is because of clipping. Think about how much work effectively adding a cape slot would require:
- They would have to go through every single upper armor in the game and edit in where the cape attaches or sits to that upper armor piece, to avoid clipping. They can't just use one default spot because the cape would look different depending on if the player was wearing a massive suit of armor or a thin robe.
- Once they set the location for the cape on that specific piece of upper armor, they have to then switch to the versions of that armor used by other races, and scale/adjust the attaching point. This is because one piece of armor will look very different on a Lalafel (shoulders close to the neck) vs on a Roegadyn (with the broad shoulders) so they would have to make sure that the attach point is altered and the cape spreads out on the top. This would have to be done for all five races' version of that upper armor.
- Then they would still have to double check that none of the hairstyles clip through the cape, with how its set for that current piece of armor. If any of the hairstyles do, then they would have to adjust the cape, and then verify that that hairstyle no longer clips through on each of the 5 races.
- Once all of that is done, they would have to decide how to adjust the cape for tails. Once decided they would have to go in and edit the cape for all mi'qote armor and all au ra armor seperately to make sure the tails no longer clip through.
And all of that, all that right there that I listed, that's one, ONE single piece of upper armor. After that, they get to move on to another upper armor, and make sure all the clipping is fine. Yes they can set defaults like have all robes have one default position, per race.. but then they would still have to double check that it doesnt clip through horribly on EVERY OTHER ROBE. Because what looks fine on one robe, could be coming out of the hood of another, or clipping through some snazzy shoulder decoration. So regardless, they would still have to double check every single upper armor in the game, for each race seperately.
Or they could put all that dev time to something new that impacts everyone, not just a handful of players who want capes.
Its simply their opinion. No one is taking the idea away from you, they are just saying they don't agree with it. If you want a place where everyone is going to agree with everything anyone says ever... well I don't know where that place is, but its not here. That is exactly my point.
