Oh, people did ask for pet battles! But people thought along the lines of pokémon, not along the lines of RTS.

Personally, I only like the GATEs in the gold saucer myself. Chocobo racing seemed nice at first and reminded me a bit of Mario Kart, except in super clunky and with a breeding grind attached >.>
