Don't get me wrong, I don't entirely agree with their choices, I am just stating what is possibly going through their minds. They stuffed up and it's too late to fix it - especially when a bunch of those people spent the crazy 300 million gil on housing launch for a Mansion on some servers..
This is where you are flat out wrong.
The transfer system has 0 impact on people telling their friends or other player that their old plot is going up for sale. Both Shougun and I have gone over this.
People can already do this, regardless of a move feature or not. People WILL do this regardless of the move feature or not.
The move feature doesn't suddenly make this more possible, or more viable. It will happen.
IF the move feature was restricted to FCs, people who wish to move to the new zone have to relinquish their house before the plots in the new zone go on sale.
This means they can do it tomorrow, or 3 weeks from now, or 2 days before the new plots go on sale. This time is extremely unpredictable and leaves no opportunity for anyone to snatch it up.
The move feature however would force movers to do it as soon as the new wards are open. This time is extremely predictable as it will undoubtedly be the moment the new wards open.
So in actual fact - adding a move feature would IMPROVE the odds of a non-friend or FC member from grabbing the plot.
Either way - there is still a net gain in total population who don't own houses, that now do. Networking with other people in a multiplayer game is advantageous. I recommend that if you desire a plot in an older ward, you talk to people who are considering on moving. If you don't desire an old ward, then have fun with the server rush when the new wards go on sale.
I mean, even me talking so openly about moving on the official forums puts a flag on my house as someone who will be attempting to move when the new wards are released.
