Uh, I'm so horrible at describing why, but I'll try to list something that comes to my mind.

I'm personally not really fan of black hair - and I like the hairstyle and eye-color chosen in first pic.

Overall color scheme seems rather warm, earthy. The rough face and dark scales of the Xaela don't match as well imo.

To the contrary to the two previous people. The skin colors of the raen, hair color and eyes color doesn't match, IMO. Your xaela looks much better. May be if you try other colors with your raen, it would be looker.
