I don't know whether to stick to my highlander, or go back to raen. I've already switched back and forth. I can't decide!

Prefer the dark one, but for me it also depends on what gear you are going to be wearing. Darker gear choose the Xaela, lighter Rean.
On default I think humans in any RPG are too boring and generic, I have wasted 3 fantasias because of it. I started as one, but couldn't really nail down a different look.. I should have used this thread! Anyway, in your case I'd go with the highlander. He matches your namesake better as well!

I've been torn up between trying to switch from this:
To female Highlander.
Couple of things:
-I like playing Machinist but I also like delving into Warrior when a tank is needed. I'm still advancing through the game so I'm still trying on new clothes and stuff.
-Tried to make my Au Ra look as vicious as possible, since I like the fact that Xaela are supposed to be perpetually warring Mongolians. I tried fighting against the whole flowery, dainty look that Au Ra seem to naturally fall into.
-I like that the female Highlander can look like a princess but could probably curb stomp you given the chance.
-Don't really want to give cosmetics to either of them, since my WoL doesn't really care about that kind of stuff, being too busy slaying primals.

I like the Au ra better out of the two. I was a highlander that looked very similar to yours, with a similar mindset, "warrior princess". I think the Au ra would be better for roguish type looks. If you plan on playing warrior(s) - highlander pick that. I loved the look of my previous race (highlander) playing dragoon, only reason I wasted a phial to change her back. I think highlander looks great in heavy armors, and the stances look cool too... If she isn't too tall, then it is just too much.
Overall I'd say stay Auri (or adjust looks of it).

I'd say that Highlander's have some not so girly haircuts. If you want to look slayerey.
Also I admit that I kinda want to stand out from my au ra, since apparently (on Balmung anyway) fem auris are the second most played combination of races and genders, right next to fem miqotes I think. I've been in like 3-4 four-man parties where every single person is a fem au ra Haven't seen a lot of fem highlanders or fem roes. Purely anecdotal evidence though.

I like the highlander better. '3'

^ this is what i'm thinking of changing to.
I'm not sure if I should stay or change and have been tossing it around in my head for some time now. For the darker skin toned one, I was also thinking whether or not make the skin tone a little lighter(since I was wanting to make an Asian-like look). I would like to hear other's opinions about the two.
