magic as a main theme can be in 5.0 if we don't go to Garlemald (garleans can't do magic)
Machinist, Astrologian and Dark Knight aren't even in the 3.0 trailer.

Neither Astrologian, Machinist nor Dark Knight were showcased in the HW trailer. Only Warrior and Dragoon.
Samurai was the focus for the Othard section of the trailer due to the job suiting the atmosphere.
If they were going to do a trailer focused on a Victorian London style metropolis Red Mage would likely be the focus job.
DRK and AST werent featured in the HW trailer. But they were the cover for many advertisements of the expansion. DRK is still the promoted job for Facebook advertisements.
I expect there to be a rendition of the magi war at some point in this game.
I'd love an entire expansion of WHM vs BLM and the other mages supporting either side.
Derplander is the poster-boy for FFXIV. The Jobs given the spotlight are ones he's taken up while in a new environment.
In Ishgard it was DRG because of its prestige and tactile strength against the dragon menace. Dark Knight is a powerful discipline, but also very anti-hero, which would clash with the Derplanders image.
Monks are essentially the most prevalent role in Ala Mhigo, with different schools and sects diversifying the discipline. We will essentially play out what is to be Derplander fighting for Ala Mhigo and against the Empire as the one Job that represents the people the best.
For Othard, or rather the region around Doma atleast, Samurai is probably your general discipline, Ninja are a specialized role that stay out of direct conflict, and there doesn't seem to be a discipline that holds any greater significance than those two.
So to see Derplander, who up til now has taken very direct, very engaging disciplines then become a backline caster would create dissonance. If anything, we'll ultimately never see Him taking up such unless they were to ever release a DoM tank or very direct magic attacker.

Uhh... Magic not having a big presence in the story at all? I can easily think of six characters in the 3.0 questline that are pretty big deals and all use magic. Look at the scions alone, the majority of the big name Scion NPCs are ALL mages of some form, as a matter of fact Thancred and Yda are the only two non mage Archons, so if anything I think that should explain why the DoW Jobs are getting some love here.
Well you mean like a Mystic Knight/Blue Mage sort of expansion? That would be cool....
I'm absolutely not so sure that the next expansion will even have magic anywhere near it. Feels like were gonna pincer Garlemald after liberating its western froont and then eastern front....
admittedly if those two and dancer are added in a future expansion, itd definitely fit some sort of persian/mid eastern theme.
