Yoshida stated they may not even charget until 1.21 so people can try out 1.20 content. This is a perfectly reasonable time to start charging, since it brings the game to launch standards.

Don't pay if you don't like it. Its amazing how many of you play a game you feel is terrible. Or maybe....just maybe... you're full of it./clap /clap Why ppl should pay for an incomplete game (with a terrible payment system btw), when really more promosing mmo are coming out? Only cause the game has chocos (finally) and Final Fantasy in his name? And i talk as FF saga fan (even played XI from usa d1 till half of wotg)
I'm already going to pay $12 if that's what SE charges. I like the game.
HOWEVER, SE knows the product they now have, and the product they're going to have. I truly hope they do the right thing and only charge us a portion of that until 2.0 is released.
Not holding my breath, though.
I don't call it half-finished because of anything Yoshida said. We're literally at the halfway point between when they started the rebuild and when they're expected to finish. That's half-finished in anyone's book.
But even that aside, we're playing what amounts to a version of FFXIV whose days are numbered. FFXIV 2.0 will be a new client with new servers with new zones. So they're asking full price for a game that will be obsolete in a year's time. Somehow, that just doesn't sit well with me.
I recognize people think this is worth the full price, nonetheless, and that's perfectly okay. Everyone will vote with their dollars. But if lowering the price makes SE even more money with a larger player base, doesn't everyone win in this situation? I think it's worth a look.

Fine, then 2.0 is half finished. But no one is paying for 2.0 yet, so don't act like our current FFXIV is half finished because of it. Finished isn't the issue and never has been - you either enjoy the game enough to pay or you don't. If your principles prevent you from paying for a game you enjoy based on how complete the next version of that game is..
You know what, I don't even have an end for that sentence; it's just too crazy.
Obsolete would be wiping character data. Obsolete would be not taking into account everything learned from our current FFXIV and the feedback from the community about it. Obsolete would be completely changing the lore to something unrecognizable. There's nothing obsolete about FFXIV now because it will be even better later. But even that aside, we're playing what amounts to a version of FFXIV whose days are numbered. FFXIV 2.0 will be a new client with new servers with new zones. So they're asking full price for a game that will be obsolete in a year's time. Somehow, that just doesn't sit well with me.
That's a big if - charging half would require over double the number of people to play for the entire time up to 2.0. You can disagree with their speculation on whether or not that would happen, but you still can't say that the price drop should happen based on how "finished" the game is.I recognize people think this is worth the full price, nonetheless, and that's perfectly okay. Everyone will vote with their dollars. But if lowering the price makes SE even more money with a larger player base, doesn't everyone win in this situation? I think it's worth a look.
see sheep like this ignore post complety to def their shepard....
he never sayed he didnt like the game just that it is unfinished and other games will be coming out that should be finished b4 they accualy finish this game.
he made a valid point and u troll all over it.
this is why these post are so much fun same sheep sayin same stuff, if u dont like it then leave. even tho the guy sayed hes been a fan of the series for ever.
i agree with him to a point, its not about not liking the game or the name or what color my char is, its about the fact that i payed for a product that was soposed to be this.... and i got somthing else..... now they sent me half of what i payed for but want me to pay for the service for that product untill i recieve what i was soposed to get in the first place. so if u add up that 15 bucks for a year+ the 80 bucks i payed and couldnt even enjoy because well we dont need to go back into how bad this game was @ launch. and ill have over 250 dollars on a product i wont recieve till next year.
now i personaly dont care about the money its the point of the matter i already payed for the product they gona be selling a year from now. i didnt pay for this and i am not getting offered a refund for it. they admited it was not right. i spent over $1000 bucks rebuilding my pc because they sayed it would need a beefy pc to play it, but even with my i7 and duel 460 gtx cards this game is still slow laggy and not worth upgrading my pc for.
me and my firend put our pcs right next to each other, when i run around him it dont even show me move till like 3-4 secs later. it works both ways also if he moves it does same thing on my screen.
I feel i was misled on what was bein sold, as a finished and ready to be sold mmo. this game is far from that. now 2.0 sounds like it will have the finishing touches on it to accualy give u the full exp u should recieve in any mmo, but that again is a year away.
now the game is goin in the right direction for sure the new GD is the man he shoulda amde the game to begin with, but it still has way to many flaws to say its ready to be sold. ive played so many f2p mmos, almost every1 i have played never have i seen such bad servers or ui, these 2 things should be adressed b4 it can be considers a p2p game. untill then why would new peeps want to play? is SE goal not to get as many peeps playing their game?
charging this early will make lots of peeps quit, and lots might not come back if they find 1 of the new big mmos coming out in next year fun. this is not the way to keep the game floating in a desperate time like now when the game is on verge of dying off, and has already been deemed a failure, by every big mmo websight online.
if it wasnt for my RL friends i would not be playing till 2.0 if i even came back then. but lucky for SE i got 2 RL friends addicted to their first mmo. i dont want to ruin this exp for them i rember playing EQ for first time and was so addicted myself. but i am not them, im not new to mmos, i know what good mmos have to offer. so im in a place where i dont want to pay for a beta but i proly will just to play with my firends if they decide to stay.
Wow this thread...
Also math is never "made up" its the only thing that is true, the numbers are merely, dare I say it, representational and honestly do not matter (yes read me correctly, they do not matter; that is the beauty of math when you are merely looking at a + or - percentage; whether the player base is 1 to 1million it doesn't matter what matters are the percentages, percentages, percentages) Also to make a claim that people don't know what they are doing when they show you plain out mathematical fact is just silly.
The information is out there, you can google the average income for all kinds of employees and use those are references, we know that there are 250 employees, we know they probably make 40k a year, we know there are 11 months of billing (not 12; see the .pdf for ref) we know the price is 12.99 full or 6.49 half, the only unknown is x = player base, but if you use the same number for x then it doesn't really matter what x is to get the percents and your gain/loss. I hope all these makes sense to the mass, its not hard math its basic algebra at best and you don't really need a room full of accountants to do it. (lol at whoever made that statement)
