While I'm sure it's stressful, I look at the light at the end of the tunnel. (So to speak.)

If 2.0 turns XIV into the amazing, epic MMO everyone wants to play that's full of subscribers...Do you realize how GOOD that makes Yoshida look at SE?

Undertaking the leadership role of a initially failed project, turning the whole thing around, and turning a profit on it? (This applies for the new Dev team as well.)

It's said that the Japanese are hard workers, and I also say that they know when to recognize a job well done.

With this, his future at SE is going to be brighter than it ever has been. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the next FF games to be spearheaded by him because of this.

    Short version:

Yes, it's alot of stress. But his hard work is going to make him shine at SE.

I like to think that yes, Yoshi-P and the entire development team are working like absolute maniacs to improve the game we love so dearly. Yes, it might be unhealthy to a majority of Japanese workers, but the SE dev team has a card up its sleeve, and we are that card =)

Think of our encouragement and appreciation as extra doses of enthusiasm to bolster their already impressive work ethic, show them how valuable their hard work is to us =)

Thx Dev team, for working insanely hard to make unprecedented changes to a game we love so much. Im 25 years old and Final Fantasy has LITERALLY been a part of my life, and seeing the effort you are putting in to live up to all of our great expectations is impressive. Keep up the good work =)

It's this strong work ethic that gives japan among the lowest crime rates in the world.

He's a grown man, if he has problems, he needs to work them out. He'd be a fool if he didn't know what he was getting into when he took the job. If FFXIV gets turned around the way SE is praying, Yoshida's fame is going to skyrocket and that's a reward that is worth the struggle for him right now.

I don't feel any remorse for Yoshida at all, I honestly feel sorry for his average joe employees right now.

Though your thoughts are nice I think you're overreacting, a lot. I've had jobs where I have worked days without a wink of sleep. Doctors and Nurses do it all the time and I think life and death is more stressful than corporate position. My body literally runs on caffeine and cigarettes plus the occasional sandwich or soup. It is true that Japanese work ethics are vastly different from most Americans and Europeans but it also comes down to the professional nature of the person in question.

I have seen Starbucks employees work a month straight open to close every day without a day off. I have also seen them work every other day for 5 hours and smoking pot on their lunch breaks. Now, I don't work for Starbucks I just go there a lot and the point is that regardless of position or stature people work differently on an individual basis.

I'm sure he is just fine, a little stressed and tired probably but you can maintain that for years.

He'll be fine. Just keep encouraging him to make the game great and appreciate him for undertaking this huge project.

I think the point was more, that you CAN, but it's not 100% healthy.

Lol, we could be in 2.0 for months before we able to solve all its content, + there's pvp to hold us over as well =). Give the man a month off man...

I don't understand this. He's doing what he wants to do. If I ran the place, I'd take a nice sized office and make it my home during the week, only going home on weekends, so I could get more done. I enjoy my job and work 60-80hr a week to accomplish great things, and I know a lot that do the same, and I'd kill to be able to just take an office and put a bed in it and personalize it a bit, so I didn't have to deal with the commute. If you can't work from home, make your office your home, which I'm sure he's done.
