Not really sure why people are blaming SE for this 'mistake', when it is clearly the users fault.

Unless someone asked or read up on it ahead of time out of game, what reasonable person would assume promoting privileges would allow you to promote someone above your own rank? Incidents like OPs are common and this flaw in the FC system has been brought up numerous times in the past.

Yup, and I think one reason it's common is because SE doesn't take any action against it. This ENCOURAGES more of these incidents to happen because they know that they won't face any consequences for it. If the GM's actually did something to the culprit, such as banning them, along with returning the stolen items, this kind of issue wouldn't be so common.

You're telling me that the ability for someone to promote THEMSELVES to a rank that's HIGHER THAN THEIR OWN is not a design flaw and that SE shouldn't be held somewhat accountable for incidents that are caused by it? You're kidding right?

Could be a flaw, but the fact still remain that he gave a lower rank the power of demote/promote, which by itself is powerful and the person took advantage of it because people were ignorant.

I have never heard about it before because I play the game and not talk about it online, I sometimes come here to see what people are complaining about again.
