Sorry to hear what happened to you OP.
Allowing people to promote above their own rank is crazy and it really should be changed. Game Developers of all people should realise that if something can be exploited it will be.

I don't envy you having to unlock the airships, build and level them all over again. We had to do this when we moved and it was a long haul.
The materials you need to 'buy' workshop recipes can't be bought but they can be traded. If any kind FC leaders on Balmung are reading this and have extra, maybe you could help the OP out.

The only thing I can add is that you might consider not giving your alts the same privileges as your main. My alts cannot demolish the workshop, decommission airships or take gil out of the FC chest.
It's a little inconvenient but it's a safeguard. As any FC leader knows, there are a lot of permissions to check/uncheck when you make or change a rank, so if I slip up at any time and somebody accidentally gets the ability to promote themselves, the damage they can do is limited.

I didn't actually realise this was possible in XIV till I read this, it's a TERRIBLE flaw in the design of any 'guild' system which I've only seen once before, over a decade ago.

Learned about this "semi-broken" feature before Heavensward (back around patch 2.4 I think) to bad it was after one of my RL friends did something... I'll just say reckless (won't elaborate further already put a thread on the Behemoth forum page about it to try & get closer... lost will to rebuild FC when leadership auto-passed to me, still in it thou lmao)... thou I leanred about it when we had jurk FC leaders locking house's keeping members from personal rooms

As horrible as something of that nature can be, as long as u learn from it & strive to never let it happen again, then at lest u haven't givin up which as far as I'm conserned is a good thing (the "not giving up" part)

Ranks privileges are your responsability, your FC is your responsability, you give these people privilege, it sucks that one of them stole from your FC, but any GM will tell you what im saying. In the future just becareful to who you give previlege and who you thrust.

All you can do now is warn people of that person and possibly blacklist him/her incase they name change.

hell my FC is a few considerably close knit ppl and we still have a very restricted and controlled FC just incase >.> We also tend to just leave "petty cash" levels of gil in the bank. Course I and some of them come from WoW though and that game will make you distrustful of your own kin within the week :P

Will admit the settings for FC ranks etc are a bit archaic though, I tend to just make a rank and strip it clean till i see who I am putting in there (tend to leave it with just chat privileges up, sometimes I don't even allow ppl to deposit just incase lol)

Indeed. This single flaw in the FC system should have been fixed years ago. It's a completely critical design flaw. In effect this means that if you create a rank that can promote/demote members and another rank that has bank access, players without bank access can be elevated to the rank required by players who also lack bank access. Actually the only thing players cannot gain through what amounts to an elevation of privilege attack is the FC Master role.

As it stands it actually strongly suggests that all promotion, demotion, kick and bank withdrawal rights are limited to the FC leader, unless you are fortunate enough to have people you can truly trust in officer roles - and even then you are taking a risk.

You can't here but this forum is not the center of the universe, let reddit deal with them like suggested ^^

Moral of the story. Don't annoy or harass people, communicate nicely, do good work.
Or maybe the thief is just a douche ? It would not be the first time and it probably won't be the last (I remember that post made my a thief actually being proud of his attitude and bragging about)

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

I can't tell what's worse. The fact that SE allows this fault to exist in the game or the people in this thread actually defending it.
