Let's complain about how bad the expansion is before we have even played it.

Well, we've played an ffxiv expansion before. So given their lack of interest in shaking things up it is fair to say that some problems are still going to be present and still going to be problems.
I'm mostly indifferent with a side heaping helping of "meh" to it to be honest. I feel that way because the only thing consistent with Yoshida in the past has been disappointment after disappointment. I simply can't look forward to anything anymore until I see and play it for myself. When that happens then I'll make up my mind and see if there's anything to be excited for. I'm on the "meh" side of things cos what I have seen is...all pretty much more of the same. I want to be excited for the combat changes cos that is one of the things in the game that does need work and an overhaul, but I have this little voice in the back of my mind telling me from his track record, he's going to screw it up.
I feel this expansion won't be as good as many ppl have hoped.
Fewer jobs and only DPS (gotta love those DPS queues)
No new race but also no more character customization.
Areas won't be as big as they look on the map.
Swimming will be quite limited and I feel it won't matter so much as flying did.
PS3 support dropped and PC minimum requirements have been raised significantly. Those 2 were on keynote slides as major key points yet we get no better graphics or anything that can explain the huge bump on system requirements.
New housing area that's good but no info on adding more housing plots on the 3 existing ones. After all these years housing is still an elitist thing and most people still can't buy one despite having the money.
No solid info about lots of stuff.
I feel this won't be very good.
At this point I wait it only to explore new areas and see the story. Very underwhelming.

We have played HW before, not SB. These are two completely different expansions.
So unless someone here has a magical ability to see into the future, it's too early to judge that the expansion will be bad.
People are free to speculate, but we have yet no way knowing how good or bad the expansion will be.
I'm looking forward to it with neither dread nor excitement at this point.
Ala Mhigo is very, 'Meh,' to me and I feel like that isn't going to change.
The lack of a new Race or Character Customization is making me feel very Bleh.
Red Mage interests me as I prefer Int-Based DPS classes.
Samurai interests me as a job I might level just for the access to gear for glamour.
Doma interests me far more than Ala Mhigo.
I'll look forward to the story and the gameplay I've come to enjoy. Ivalice might be interesting. Otherwise, I'm already stowing away my hype for 5.0.
What about the forbidden land of Eureka?
It does sound like it's a new open world thing.
How does one solve the problem with empty zones though?
If you make people level up by killing monsters / doing fates, everyone whines.
Sea/Sky concept from ffxi where you farm certain monsters and force spawn bosses in the open world.. people don't want that either.
Not to mention there'd be a crapload of people competing for them as well as so many people fighting in the open world at the same time.
Will they fight next to each other? Do they fight one after another?
The way this games combat works, it's a lot of mechanics and learning anyway, you'd waste so many npc spawns to learn the fights in the first place.
It also wouldn't work with the cross-server party finder thing.
Then you have the issue of content constantly becoming outdated and irrelevant, it's the price we pay for vertical progression.
I don't know why anyone would want vertical progression anyway though.
And horizontal progression would not work in this game either, it won't work in any game really, except the good old ffxi.
The reason it worked there was how the combat worked along with gearswaps.
RDM with Enchanting, Enfeebling, Magic Damage, Refresh/Idle/Movement, Damage Reduction, Enmity, Fast Cast/Recast/Haste, Healing, Elemental Resistance sets.
Each piece of gear had its own use and you'd utilize so many different pieces of gear depending on what you cast or what you do.
This can never work in ffxiv because we don't even get gearswaps, we don't have a real elemental wheel, we don't have auto-attack/WS sets (with different stat modifiers even).
Even if it was horizontal progression, there would be a BiS list for each job really.
What content do you want/expect the open world to be filled with?
(sorry if this is going slightly off-topic)
Nothing allow us to state that stormblood will be any different from heavensward in terms of game design philosophy though. We have played HW before, not SB. These are two completely different expansions.

The only thing I'm disappointed in is how negative everyone is being. I was super excited to see all the new stuff. I don't really care if they change the game up too much, I like XIV mostly the way it is. Extra content besides dungeons never hurts, but otherwise I'm pretty satisfied with the game.
I honestly wonder how many people complaining about same old same old came from XI, where it was farm items to spawn NMs to farm items to spawn NMs.
I can answer the question with a saying:
"Fool me once, shame on you"
"Fool me twice, shame on me"
HW was launched with nearly no content - even less than ARR at launch - and it remained like this for 6 months...I won't fall for that again. And the new classed don't appeal to me and I'm more into Chinese than Japanese when it comes to setting so the regions and stuff really means nothing to me. On top of that it was nearly explained nothing about the combat overhaul and other features that I simply don't care enough to wait for the expansion launch at day one so...
...I'll (probably) pass.
