What he's saying has nothing to do with "working with SE". And why would he have to be getting paid to post something that, frankly, sounds like common sense to me.

Look how people are reacting to paying for it now after having it free all these months. You seriously think that, if they were to charge less 'til 2.0 releases, there wouldn't be exactly the same response about "not being worth full price because 2.0 hasn't proven itself"?

You think that kind of negativity wouldn't have a far worse impact on them at that time, when they're trying to re-launch the game on to a new platform and with a massively revamped game overall if people are saying, out of the gate, "it's not worth full sub" or are complaining that it's going to full sub rates? That kind of negativity could potentially overshadow the positivity of the event (negativity on the internet is always far louder and persistent then positivity) and undermine their efforts.

FFS... It has been completely explained and clarified by Yoshi what he meant by the "50%" statement, in the context he said it and when he said it. The game is not "50% Complete". He considered it "50% to what it should be as a launch title" back before 1.19 was released. It is now much closer to 100%, and with a couple key features to be included with 1.20 - a more functional Market system and a better party search system, along with everything else it will bring, he feels it will be at the point of being a properly launch worthy MMORPG.... worth paying a subscription for.

At that point, people have the same option they have with any other MMORPG they play... Decide it's worth it and continue playing, or decide it isn't and cancel. The only difference in this case is we'll have had up to 15 months of free play time by that point... But of course, that's not enough for some people apparently.

as for the subject, i already made a post about paying 50% for 50% of the game a while ago. I wouldnt mind paying like 5$, just seeing that over the 13$ changes so many peoples minds, including mine which i was hesitating for paying full. Offer it for 5 bucks and people go "its 5$, thats nothing". increase it to 13 and people think again. It might not be a ton more, but enough to stop people from playing for an entire year.

How about a compromise?

I pay SE -$5.00 every month. Then when 2.0 launches, they up this price to -$8.00

Its a squeeze even with that...I mean, look at the UI!...I'm afraid the game won't be ready to pay for full price until we have UI that acts on mental thought, 75 raids, and a voice actor for every player.

Come on SE! Its 2011! I expect more out of my MMORPG, like the negative flying robot car, and studio audience laugh track responses at my beck and call.

This has probably already been said by the time I post this, but Yoshi said the "50% completion" before 1.19 was live.

It would be a different world if we could go to Disney World, pay once, get to come back for a year without additional charge, while some of the rides were being adjused, attractions being added to the parks, etc.

And now Disney will charge full price for their park while they're working on their replacement park. There's still attractions here, new ones being set up. Competing parks are always going to be out there (short of an unsexy apocalypse). People are going to wander into other parks whether Disney is free or half price, tis' Inevitable. And when the customers feel like it, may pay the admission fee laterto see what sinew.

It's spreading BS like this that allows misinformation to perpetuate, so no one ever gets the right info.

"The 50% number, during the Live Producer letter, came from where they were at before the release of 1.19. Once 1.2 is released, that will be even closer to the final vision of the current game. We want players to try 1.2 and see that our game is officially worth paying for, which is when the customers can decide if they want to pay for it or not."

If you all come back after a year, assuming you ever LEAVE, you'll be happy to know I'll still be here playing happily, while you've spent the past year playing sub-par games and wasting your time. The 3 ps3/360 game syou buy in the next year, play for a few hours and get bored of because they suck, would have paid your xiv subscription.

ok so its 60%? the whole point is that Yoshi himself considers 2.0 to be the version that is worthy of competing with other MMOs. We get our trial periods then, PS3 users get it then, which is just more evidence that 2.0 should be when they charge us, even at all. I think its perfectly fair to ask for a reduced price until then.
