Sounds less like a "Confirmation" and more just a statement of intent.

And just cause they intend to put Blitzball in at some point, doesn't mean they will. Yoshi-P says that they want to strike a balance between the original FFX mini-game, and something more in line with the designs and gameplay of XIV. Just cause he says he would like to do this, doesn't mean they ever actually will find this compromise and put it in the game. Would be nice, but no guarantee.

We have had some ideas talking to the media about a special room like Miqo’te Paradise where you pay $50 and go in and have some fun with Miqo’te. We’ve brought this up with the designers on our team… so far no one has raised their hand saying they want to make it yet.

Uh, yeah no. Blitzball was a nightmare in 10.
I absolutely do not feel the slightest need for it in 14, but I'm sure it will happen anyways.

To be fair, in his comments, Yoshi-P kind of (Politely) acknowledged that FFX Blitzball was crap.

Don't call Blitzball crap, it really was in FFX-2 but the original thing from Final Fantasy X was the best mini-game any FF game has ever had, it would work great in FFXIV and there are many ways to play it, single player vs. AI, players vs. players!...

There's more to Blitzball than just the game itself, there's NPC and in FFXIV's case there could also be player's recruiting, besides tournaments so even if Yoshi-P said the game is crap truth is it's far from it!...
