    Should quests be longer?

Questing in this game is weird. Its like the meaning of the word itself has been lost in the new style that is quick and short, with little to no "quest".

I'd like to see quests be more like the very first relic quest. And by that i mean long, exciting and feeling like an actual venture.

Instead of segmenting the MSQ in 5 smaller quests i will suggest simply having one long quest per patch. The leveling process could be changed, so that onceselfs primary source of exp wasnt the story, but alternative tasks, or having smaller "subplots" with a really good chunk of exp at the end. Example; you are on the msq quest to beat titan, the subplot being get food for the banquet. You are still doing it all as usual, but the process itself would feel less disjointed.

This form of lvling would encourage getting xp outside of the MSQ and could help newcomers learning how to lvl their alternate jobs.

As we heard from the devs, they have planned the msq to have even more quests in SB, instead of say 100 MSQ quests and 100 sidequests, its going to be more like a 150 to 50 split. I wish this number would be greatly lowered, not only for getting the "quest" back, but also for simplicity.

The MSQ itself can be seen as a single long quest, it's just split up in parts to regularly reward players and to provide exit points in the experience. Without exit points, things start to drag, and instead of players going like.. "just one more", or "alright, will continue tomorrow".. they go.. "ugh, how long before Im done?". Exit points can also be provided by having sub-objectives tick off, but frequent rewards have their benefits.

I wouldn't mind longer quests at the level cap. I think shorter quests are better while leveling because in my opinion it hurts the pacing of the story to have to stop and level up to continue (the 46-49 jump near the end of ARR being the worst offender).

I think it's too friendly to be honest. Easy to complete, lots of xp, ( depending on type ). There are a few were you get no map assistance and I like those, they make you think and the only hints you get are from the NPC's. A good balance for people who don't like to spend too much time searching for clues is important for MMO's to keep people somewhat happy. If they had special quest with no assistance and better rewards, as an example Tomes, umbrite, oils,, maps, relic items, marks ect. Now if those would involve some old content like coils, Diadem, ect. Now it would be great if they had a bonus for having one new person to help others as well. Then people would really be able to play content.

If all it is is fetch Quests like many that we have... no thanks
But if there is actual creativity and some sort of story yes i would love for them to be longer.
The original Relic Questline just as an example i found to had been very good at the time, we do not get that feeling anymore i find

I can't say I can really sympathize. You were sent picking up an item in a random location, fetch a crafted item and then set to slay, like, 30 random open world mobs. Then a brief Trial-Marathon and you're done. Upgrade was simply buying something with tomes.
What followed after was an excrutiating amount of FATE-grinding, followed by:"Run all over the world nine times to kill the required mobs, do these dungeons otherwise completely irrelevant to you and wait until you get just that specific fate to pop that you want". Next step? Treasure maps + Materia grind. UUuuuhn...

I dunno. To me, it felt less like an adventure and more like indentured servitude, but...to each their own.

I wouldn't mind them being longer if they served a genuine purpose....

My peeve is all the filler junk in the MSQ that has literally no connection to the plot. slayed a mighty primal. that's great now can you help kill the slugs ruining our crops..... THAFOOOOOOQQQQ!!!!

or the quests where you go from place "A" we'll say foundation. then go to place "B". some npc way out in the western highlands. have a 2 line conversation with him and then go back to "A" THAFOOOOOQQ!!!!

There's far to many junk quests in the game and all they do is get in the way... I know a few friends that picked up the game and tried it. but the msq is so full of junk like the examples above it just puts them off playing it. because by the time they get back to the actual plot they forgotten whatthe hells going on.....

There should be a special quest where there are quests within quests within quests composed of puzzles, platforms, riddles, dungeon running, FATEs, gathering, crafting, using MGP to buy stuff, treasure maps, etc. It'll be a good time.
