Good point, I'd completely forgotten about that---RIP... Can only hope it won't be the case this time but definitely not holding my breath for that change either. While there's no confirmation, there is a high likelihood that PotD may not benefit someone past 60. When Heavensward launched, all the level 50 dungeons provided no experience points for quite some time because SE wants people in the new areas/dungeons. This same logic can be applied to PotD, ideally SE doesn't want people just cramming into PotD instead of actually doing the expansion content.
Two more days and we'll finally get our answers. Hope Samurai (if at all) is a fun job, tank or dps. DRK kind of turned me off of the TP/MP management. If I were to tank, I want to focus on just holding hate and dpsing, not stance dancing or micro managing.
Samurai would be a good opportunity to introduce a fresh new way to tank, like relying on combos to not only deal strong damage, but to hold emnity (skillchains). A couple useful AoE weaponskills (or an AoE hate combo). A few defensive cooldowns to mitigate damage, and a high block rate with your sword. Heck counter attacks that can restore HP when used -- so every time an enemy hits you you can counter back for a fraction of it's damage and the numbers you dish restores your HP.
I've heard that 50-60 is more efficient through regular dungeons instead. Could always be wrong. However, for your first char, you would want to follow the 4.0 dungeons and story and not grind in PoTD. Therefore PoTD won't be a quality option in case DF is busted.

I imagine SAM would be high crit based, with like bloodletter type procs on a crit or something, besides that im ok with tank or dps, really.
I hope they don't nerf POTD T_T It is a nice way to level..they also said they are adding a new POTD, but they just said "in 4.0" I think, so that could be any time really...
This.
I'm confident that we'll see at least 1 of each role. And still confident in BLU and DNC, based on the shirt and hints from the Stormblood video. Yes, SAM was found in dat files, but it's inconclusive. Could be that they're just adding NPCs that are Samurai. Could be old "trash" code from another branch when they were considering to put SAM in Heavensward instead of DRK. Could be a purposeful troll. Could not even mean Samurai.
That said, if we have 3 jobs, one of each role, SAM could still be included (in my prediction). BLU tank, DNC healer, SAM dps.
Materia? Really? Materia use and consumption has pretty much zero impact on determining new jobs and their main stats. That's such a non-issue man. The materia economy isn't going to just explode. Not to mention, they've talked about things like removing/majorly altering the Parry and Accuracy stats, and have made adjustments to Determination in the past which will have and has had impacts on materia markets/value. The effects of the market value of materia is of zero consideration or importance for them I can assure you.
You may not like running FATEs, but they'd be new FATEs in new areas and SE absolutely wants people doing them. They botched it with Heavensward's launch by making the 3.0 FATEs not worth doing exp wise which resulted in people spamming northern thanalan FATEs instead, so they likely won't make that mistake again.Tbh I'd rather keep PotD than run a billion FATEs though, so hopefully it doesn't turn into that (I can't know what contents they'll have available but I assume FATEs would be one of the EXP routes after MSQ, maybe a nonissue).
All I know is, I've got my front row seat ready for FanFest tomorrow, I'm gonna have this thread open and my god will I be refreshing it like crazy! xP My predictions though, just for the sake of it? SAM confirmed, as either Tank/DPS, I don't really care. And I've got a weird gut feeling that we'll be seeing a third job of some kind, not sure why, maybe Dancer? The elusive Chemist? Either way, I've got 1mil gil bet on SAM with a bunch of friends, let's see if I end up being rich or poor xD
Chemist healer would be really really interesting. First DoW to break the healer Role...
