Wait...so people are not aware that they can have both..? Oh my..¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Today, you can also learn how to become great in 5 simple steps!
    • Put Protect in Slot 1 before you enter the duty, Cleric Stance somewhere in slot 2-5.
    • Cast Protect at the start of the dungeon.
    • Take Protect out(!) and move Cleric Stance over into the first slot.
    • (That way, none of your skill cooldowns are affected other than Cleric Stance, which has a cooldown of only 5 seconds)
    • Continue healing while you wait for those 5 seconds to pass.
    • Happily DPS away in Cleric Stance for the rest of the dungeon while also having provided the mitigation that is part of your job! Yaaay!

    Additional step:
Get used to fending off claims that you are a cheater by people less experienced with the system

I believe so. Like if you start with Protect in slot one for example you could do...

    /ac "Protect" <me>
    /wait 4
    /aaction "Protect" off
/aaction "Cleric Stance" off (only needed if Cleric is already set in another slot besides slot 1, did testing and it errors that Cleric is already set somewhere else)
    /wait 1
    /aaction "Cleric Stance" on

the /aaction command doesn't use numbers so it seems to just use the slot that is available to switch actions in and out. So for a dungeon where you only have 1 slot this seems to work. The only thing I am not sure about is your abilities going on cooldown or not since this removes actions and puts them back instead of just shuffling the placement. There doesn't seem to be a command to shuffle actions that are already set so you may have to do it manually.

Edit: I tested by going into Tam Tara undersized and using this macro and only Cleric Stance ended up on cooldown after you put it in slot one. Everything else was fine so I am assuming the same would happen in sync'd because it seems only changing spells puts most of your toolkit on cooldown.

Side Note: After using this macro (if you had Cleric in one of the other slots 2, 3 ,4 or 5) it will leave one of your slots empty, but you don't want to put Protect back into any of the other slots until you get out of the dungeon because slotting Protect puts most of your toolkit on cooldown when you add it.

So if you are very dead set on having both this macro seems to be good. Normally I wouldn't go through this much trouble just to have Protect in Tam Tara though xD I can heal it fine without it, but it is cool to actually see and try out the things the macro system can do.

Thank you very much for this. While reading through the discussion I was considering that with any Job using cross skills, if there were cross skills that have a situational application, a macro could be used to switch them in and out as needed - especially when the number of cross skills is limited by level.

No problem. It was cool to experiment with to see if it would work. In general it seems to be a great macro for healers who want both actions in low level dungeons.

You could even make a macro to fix your actions after you exit the instance as well to place them back where you want them to be.

    Like after you exit...

    /aaction "Cleric Stance" off
    /wait 1
    /aaction "Protect" on
    /aaction "Cleric Stance" on

This removes Cleric Stance from slot one, then puts Protect in slot one, and then lastly puts Cleric Stance into slot two.

Thinking of making a quick video of the macro to show it and share it actually so that healers can use it if they want to have both.
