I guess none of you 2 ever played EQ2 ?
The houses were instanced but the neighborhoods was not, pretty much the same thing they did with appartement in fact.
1 residential area and in this area 10 houses for instance. The outside was open, so you could see you neighbors but each house's inside was an instance and no restriction on the number of "houses" can could be created
Plus, if you want to keep the ablity to decorate a garden make it a back garden or the instance "door" at the entrance of the zone, or (and my favorite) give us the ability to make a winter garden in the house *.*

(I know, I know, my eyes too are bleeding but remember it's a grand'pa MMO, be respectfull ! )

This system prooves us we can solve the housing crisis and keep living neighborhoods

Sadly I don't think it's a lake of creativity but more the fact they don't want to admitt they screwed that part and instead hide behind "it's exclusiv" because they know this will make players owning a house "specials" :/
(not everyone of course, but some defenitly acted that way when housing was released and "homless" were asking to SE why they did it he way they did)

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
