How to fix the housing crisis!

Okay this seriously needs to be discussed, because this is ridiculous. Every player should be allowed a house. It is impossible to find a free plot. Small houses, any location, are being sold by players for over 30 million. This is encouraging more people to cheat to get money.

How do we fix it? Discuss!

Now we won't have PS3 limitations, all personal houses should be removed from wards and given their own private instance. But all FC houses and apartments stay on wards.

Pros:
- Every player gets a house, for a cost
- Greater customisation, perhaps allowing change of scenery and weather
- Most MMO's use instanced housing so it has been tested and proven to work

Cons:
- Some people may complain that their house has been moved
- Slightly less players walking around as they might be in their instance

I am all for this, sadly I don't see it being implemented as this issue has been debated for such a long time and SE doesn't want to bother with the system

They would prefer their game economy be broken? Their players be unhappy? Their players cheat to buy gold with real money?

This again, and from Balmung. Look, it's never going to be fixed on Balmung. It works pretty much everywhere else but I'll agree with you on one thing. It would be nice for those players on overpopulated servers (all 2 or 3 of them) to have an instanced housing feature. The rest of us enjoy the current system and it works as intended. There are many more of us that don't want instanced housing because we enjoy the neighborhood aspect.

The apartment situation on Balmung needs to be fixed though. That's instanced and the fact that they haven't opened up more to you guys is ridiculous.

I'm all for everyone having a house but I don't want mine removed from my ward as I enjoy hanging out with my neighbours. Since I moved in I've made several new friends this way.
I think they should definitely add more places especially for FC. They should also give people who have an apartment access to a garden in some way.
Also houses are coming up for demo on Balmung you just have to be prepared to do nothing but stalk the wards every hour until you find one which is what I did for 3 weeks lol Because they go so quickly a lot of people never see the plots so they think they never come up. You do have to be quick though as there is usually lots of competition. I realise this is not an ideal situation and I totally agree that it needs fixing but just wanted to let people know that it is still possible to get a house here legally with a bit of luck and extra effort

Or crank up the initial price on the reverse auction to where they don't sell out in minutes. If the initial price on a small house is 50M, who's gonna buy that expecting to flip for profit?

I agree with all of this! The housing wards being an open community is how I've made a number of friends, found my FC, and started my business.

Stalking the wards can be frustrating, but you CAN find what you're looking for. I was watching for weeks as well on Exodus; while I was playing, checking every hour, on the hour. I found my mansion this way, and before I had the cash myself (and was just doing market research) I saw another two mansions come up (for a total of one in each housing district). I've also seen innumerable smalls, and several mediums, in this time. You just have to be willing to put in the effort.

I have found a lot of friends small houses on Balmung. Check the crystal on the hour, every hour. It really helps to have a friend in each district as well. Good luck and never give up!

I agree with making housing 'ward' there own instance. with the new area it could be easily done (eg make it Ishgardian - Sea of clouds) and the housing is on floating islands. And you pay for either small medium or large. astheically looks nice and will make sense for private instance.

As for not seeing people around the neighbourhood. May just be my server but I rarely see others in my fc housing area XD
