Anyone ever got turn off to play certain class just because their aesthetic?

I can't stand AST because of the whole astrology angle. My RL family is into all sorts of occult stuff like that and I'm completely not on board with it, so it's a turn off to me even in a fantasy game. But I always play warlocks and black mages and stuff, go figure :P

I like every class but dragoon. Why would a cat girl be a dragoon? It was the last one to 60.

For me, it's WAR. The job itself is great, but.....I just don't like axes, so it was the last one of my jobs to 60.

I love swords though, which is probably why my first 50 back in 2.0 was PLD, and then my very first 60 was DRK. (DRK was my favorite in FFXI as well, so it was more that then weapon choice though when changing mains)

However, I hate how DRK's run with their weapon unsheathed...

For me it would have to be MCH.

I love the gun, but everything else it pretty lacking visually in terms of attacks. That and it took a while for Wildfire's animation to look like a giant explosion; prior to that it was barely noticeable when it went of ... was pretty anti-climatic.

I also don't like gauss barrell (good thing it can be turned off client-side) and the aetherometer converter box

Oh, all the time. If I show you the dates around when I decided to level each job, it would be around the time I found an interesting glamour for them. And whenever I stop playing a job, it's usually because I got tired of my current outfit and need to find another before I pick it back up.

Same thing for animations. MNK is one of my least favorite dps just because the punches and kicks look so awkward. As much as I like playing SCH and SMN, it also drives me absolutely insane how boring their animations are. "I'm just going to hold this book really tightly and then magic flies out!" uuuuugh, it's the worst. Obviously, I can get over it sometimes since SCH is my main, but if Yoshi-P came to me and said that he would give SCH/SMNs better weapons and animations, but he would have to delay Stormblood for a year, I would sign off in a heartbeat.

Conversely, NIN is one of my favorite dps specifically because of well they're animated. And I switched my main to AST for a while specifically because of how flashy all of their spells were and how much I loved their weapons. Although again, at the end of the day, gameplay usually wins out because despite how much I hate their weapons and animations, I switched back to SCH because I love their skill set way more.

I realize how shallow it sounds, but if I'm going to have to stare at the same characters. Same weapons. Same animations. Same everything for years on end. Then I would much rather it be something I won't get tired of looking at.

It's also still definitely summoning, and NOT a direct damage spell, because it's got the name "Bahamut" in it! How completely riveting all this lore is, right?

To be fair, lots of FF are guilty of this as well. Most of the times, summons are hardly more than costly-flashy-powerfuly-black/white magic spells...with a bit of something something ancient pact

In most, summons are flashy and impressive, though, and not a floating booger that follows you around. (Ok, the others here aren't that bad, but that one just..... ugh.) Thank goodness for Egi glamour, if only it were available right away at level 30 (or at least 35, when we get the ugly one) and not at 50.

And then they have the absolute gall to not only have an honest-to-god Summoner as a dungeon boss fight (looking at you, Xelphatol boss), but they also go and make a fully-detailed Alexander minion. Yes. All the details.

Just give us summons already, ffs. If you don't by Stormblood, I'll legit level BLM and forget that atrocity. At least BLM feels like the nukelord it's meant to be.

Summoner for me. I wanted to like the job. I really did! After all, I'm a big fan of warlocks in WoW. DoT spells and pets are right up my ally.

But, no.

One look at that stupid one horned head gear and those ugly egis was enough to turn me off of summoners this whole expansion up to now.

However, now that we can glamourize the egis to look like carbuncles, I'm thinking of checking out the class. But, I'd like to be a level 50 scholar first. I might as well use the benefit of leveling two jobs for the effort of one.

I mained a PLD back in 2.0 because I love swords. Not very big on shields, but I learned to live with it. Switched to NIN because of tank anxiety at the time because it was the only class that had anything resembling a sword. Wound up deleting that character and starting over as a WAR. Took that to 50 before re-leveling a NIN and then levelling a DRK to 60. You guessed it, because it's a big ass sword lol Never levelled my current PLD past 22 because it's just not that interesting. But at this point, you can probably guess what I'm switching to when SB releases.
