For the people who don't want just one server, do you have a legitimate argument rather than: "I don't like big crowds!"

I don't really know what the fuss is about with Balmung. interacting with Balmung people outside of FFXIV I found that the Balmung population rather obnoxious which has turn me off login to my Balmung alt and even posibliy transfer that alt to another server. i'm having more fun on hyperion with my main and alt then I feel I will on Balmung. As for (E)RP I tend to do this at my house/apartment which keeps it the chat out of public sight (I know there is a housing issue on balmung even with the apartments being added)
Age of War
1. Some people would like a chance at buying a house one day.
2. Players shouldn't have to "avoid" places because of ERP etc.
3. Would disrupt the economy.
4. Servers have their share of elitists. We don't need more in a smaller area.
Just some things I rattled off. Could name more.
Yet despite what you have described, those same people also want the advantages of the big server. Notably manpower, concentration of resources, easy content prog etc etc. You cannot have both sets of perks.1. Some people would like a chance at buying a house one day.

Not to mention the technical issues that would come out of it. There's multiple reasons why there's not 1 huge mega server. If there wasn't, there would have been 1 server from the start.

Well rip..if anything that just further shows the issue..lol I don't see a whole lot of 100% full servers.Because it's been impossible for years by now to create any new characters on Balmung. The server is 100% full, the only way to actually get on it is by paying for a transfer (although there are rumours it is indeed possible for a few seconds to create a character right after maintenance ends..)
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.

Except they don't want those advantages or they would be on a large server already. There are people who legitimately prefer smaller servers.
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
You can control the content of public chat channels, as Grimmel pointed out, explicit and obscene content in public chat is highly reportable by anyone who feels offended or harassed by such stuff. RP is perfectly fine, anything goes - among consenting adults - so to speak. but when you use a public chat channel, there is no consent given by others, and any RP is potentially imposing on others. Explicit and/or obscene talk needs to be kept to party, FC (within FC rules) or LS chat streams, not public chat. People should report this kind of behavior, imposing your RP on others in such a manner will no doubt earn the RP community in general and quite possibly the server itself, a poor reputation.
